great article
This is a keeper.

That model ['95] and
I met in a torrential downpour at Laguna Seca Raceway, where I scared the crap out of CART driver Parker Johnstone. Back then Parker was on Honda's payroll and was there to show us the line. He earned every penny.

Man....
Somehow I never really wanted one until reading that article.

Handmade in Japan......*joy*.

There's a guy down the street from me who has an NSX, which is pretty funny because he lives in a two bedroom townhome with a wife and two young kids.
I always wonder how someone could buy a car that costs more than 30% of what their house costs.

But I think I get it now.

Each NSX is hand built. Instead of an automated conveyor line, each car is mounted on a dolly and pushed by hand from one workstation to the next, but only after each worker is satisfied his procedure has met the required tolerances and goals. I remember men in white lab coats and surgical gloves painstakingly filing down an aluminum quarter panel of an unassembled car until the trunk fit perfectly. I also watched one man assemble an entire NSX engine by hand from start to finish, which is how every NSX engine is built. You haven't lived until you've held a titanium connecting rod. I've been to the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy, and it's far more automated.

Last night, this fact was apparent when I checked out the blonde driving the Civic I was passing. She not only sped up and kept pace, she looked at me, motioned to the NSX, mouthed how much she liked it and threw me a wink.

Yes, that's from the same issue that has the article on the Comptech supercharger for Accord/CL/TL. It's a good issue I'm still reading through it right now.

on Bloomberg this morning:

"TOKYO, May 23 Kyodo
Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it will add a new model to its NSX series of sports cars at a price of 11.95 million yen, the highest for a car made in Japan.
The NSX-R will go on sale in Japan on Friday with an annual
sales target of 60 units, Honda said.
The two-seater NSX-R, a new version of the NSX-R sold between 1992 and 1994, is equipped with a 3.2-liter engine and a six-speed manual transmission.
Honda launched the NSX in 1990 and has sold some 7,100 units so far."
