let alone on a G1 CL with dual pistons, is amazing due to having tiny oem rotors and calipers. :P

So now it's suddenly logical that this upgrade has actual benefits when the previous multiple page thread concluded that there was no benefit. Interesting.

Are you taking into account the fact that the master cylinder size isn't increased so it can provide less pressure to both pistons?

Pressure remains constant, but remember the multiple pistons are smaller than the single unit they replace. (unless I'm mistaken)
The point of energy transfer is now dual apex. The amount of energy transfered disapates as you move away from the Apex. As there are now two apex to distribute the same amount of pressure, a greater surface area is receivng the energy, resulting in more efficient transfter.

Nice work (write-up and the paint job). Makes 'em stand out for sure! I really wanted to do the upgrade to the Legend calipers but I wanted the powdercoated ones like you showed for the NSX. The Legend ones aren't much cheaper. But with the prices from that link you posted I'm gonna be getting those legend calipers asap!

I think I am gonna go with this mod cuz im sick of these single piston front calipers wearing out my rotors.. I think I will go wityh the NSX ones cus the total surface area of the pistons is less then the legend calipers therfore the brake master cylinder does not have to work as hard and there is 29mm mor of surface over the cl calipers..
The only thing I dont like is that they cast a little more which is no big deal but also the NSX logo, I have a pet peeve with people that put AMG on non amg's and things that there car are not i know its just calipers butt..whatever..
How hard would it be to File the NSX off the caliperS..
I was thinking of filing it doen to a flat surface then with a stencil spray painting acura with high heat paint on there!!
whatdouthink??

This is gonna be my next mod...deffinatly I think I am gonna go with the NSX calipers instead of the legend ones there Only $50 more..
I have EBC greenstuff pads in my closet so Im gonna get the calipers and some EBC rotors and My brakes are set up..I dont understand why they put single piston calipers on such a front heavy FWD car!

The Tech Topic under the 'Caliper Upgrades' section on the link below discusses/validates what you are trying to convey and it even provides formulas for calculating clamping force of multi-piston vs. single piston calipers. It is an interesting read.

Took me 10 mins per caliper just to use 220, 500, 1000, 1200, 2000 grit sandpaper, i mean i wasn't super anal with it, but as you can see it would not take long at all, but use a grinder and it will be fast, make sure you get off all the metallic dust because as soon as there is water, rust will follow.

taken from the link:
"
If you replace the stock single-piston calipers with dual-piston calipers, the pistons are smaller (1-1/2 inches), but there are now two pistons instead of one. So the clamping force is now the surface area of each piston times two, times the line pressure. Do the math and you’ll see that a dual-piston caliper with smaller pistons actually generates more clamping pressure at the rotor than a single-piston caliper with a much larger piston: 2,471 lbs. versus 2,198 lbs."

The legend calipers have 2 pistons 38mm and 42mm
so to get the area of a circle is radias squared times pie.
so the smaller pistons total area is 1,133.54 mm
and the larger piston is 1,384.74 mm
so total mm area of both pistons are 2,518.28mm
The nsx caliper are 40mm and 34mm
smaller piston area is 907.46mm
larger pistons area is 1,256mm
Total mm area of NSX calipers are 2,163.46mm
The 1 cl piston is 45mm so total area of the piston is 1,589.625
So the master cylinder on our cars are pushing 1,589.625mm of piston area
the nsx is 573.835 MORE area that the master brake cylinder is pushing out
the legend is 928.655 MORE of total area ..
Thats where I got those numbers
