Is this normal? (Service department)
Is this normal? (Service department)
I recently brought my car in for some warranty work (I split my rear seat leather and they said that they would fix under warranty
) I also brought to their attention that the driver's seat was squeaking when driving over bumps. I expected them to take it for a test drive but here is what I found:
KM's going into dealer - 12 929
KM's coming out of dealer according to invoice - 12 929
Actual KM's on odometer when leaving dealer - 12 935
I don't think that they needed that long of a test drive! The service department was closed when I picked up my car so I couldn't ask them about it. Does this sound a little fishy to you guys? What should I say to them? There is really not much to be done at this point is there?

100+ miles?? Did he ever confront them about that?

Just a thought but isn't 6 KM roughly 4 miles? I would question the necessity for them to put on 100 miles but 4?
I know for a fact that when I've taken my car in complaining of squeeks and other symptoms that I have on roads near my home, they have to go out on some back roads to duplicate the noise/sympotom. When I took the technician out once, the trip was about 5 miles, round trip.
What probably happened was they took it for a test drive after they completed the warranty work--to make sure they corrected the problem. More than likely whomever completed your paperwork failed to put in a final mileage amount, so the person keying in the data probably hit enter over that space and it populated with the same number as the entrance mileage (sounds like some applications we have here at work).
Its probably a simple keying error or someone forgot to write down the number.
Again for 4 miles, why bother making a fuss?

I agree with sundance. They make one trip to find the problem and 2nd to see whether its fixed or not. Tho i do wonder how much they ride the SHit outta OUR cars
But anyone know what NashuaNighthawk did after he found out they drove it for 100+ miles?? I wonder what kinda excuse they tried to feed him and what he got FREE!

You could always ask the dealer to extend your warranty by an extra 6km.
Don't worry about it. I'd consider that a good thing; them driving the 6km that they did. Sounds to me like they wanted to see if they could replicate the problem.

half full or half empty...
I'd be more concerned about having 0 miles after your service...
When I had my sways put on, the bolts were loose and rattling (on delivery) and there were about 0.1 miles added to the odometer...

i took my car in for 7500 mile service... they put 15 miles on it.... that seemed a bit outrageous to me.... and one of the "services" that they do is a "road test" ..... hmmmmmmmmm i thought it was a bit fishy, but didnt say anything either...
they once put 50 miles on my car. I was defnitely outraged. Filed a complaint and next time i took it in for warranty work, they called my dad and said, we are going to take the car out to see if we fixed the problem. It will be about 3 miles or so, is that ok?
fuckin assholes
fuckin assholes
I would be a little pissed if they went that fast for that long just to find a squeak in my car... that's 100km/h!!
