Is this normal ? calling techs especially

I call my dealer yesterday to schedule appointment to have some parts that were ordered, put on. I also inquire about having the tranny flush and fill and how much will cost ect. I am put on hold while she checks it out, then I get the response " We don't have the machine that flushes the fluid out WTF?!?
They said they could do the, add fluid run through all the gears, empty and replace for $175 OR they could change the fluid for $75.
So I am trying to take care of the tranny, but they don't have the machinery to do the flush and fill ? I don't get it.

there is a difference between flushing which is expensive and just changing. If you are trying to save the tranny, then flush it.

When I had the SC installed, the dealer told me the same thing. Fortunately, the Subi dealer next door (they are owned by the same people) had one.

IMO, too expensive and here's what's going to happen. You be the judge.

That sounds pretty expensive ; the Acura folks don't have the machines that will do the job easily without messing-up the tranny. The machine needs to "patch into" the tranny cooler lines (this would be perfect and easy if you had an add-on tranny cooler *and/or* someone smart enough to "patch in" to the existing ATF cooler/warmer).

The flush requires the tech to remove ATF, then add new ATF, then run through a sequence of putting the car through the gears. This process is repeated a three times until the ATF is "almost" brand new (you never get rid of all of the old stuff).

The change is only one cycle -- you just remove some ATF, and add some.
