Lightbulb NooB Worried Sick, 03 CL-S Drivers Please Send Help!

I have read every page on the tranny Q&A:. My CL-S has 156,000 and shifts nice and smooth . I had the 3X3 done and have been checking it after each drive just because. No fluid leaks, and the fluid is nice and bright red.

Starts right up with that Honda roar...and handles great on the road. I just started using D4 as I live in NYC...for now . Getting ready for a 3000 mile journey from NYC to CA...and just want to do as much preventative as possible.

I keep hearing everyone say "transmission, transmission, transmission." However, my car is running fine...but I have only had it for like 4 days. I have driven it through everything, but car seems solid.

My question is this: Is there anything I should be looking for, prior to a failure, or is my car old enough for me to kick back and enjoy it?

My car has a build date of 08/02, and after searching the Acura records, it only had one recall for 2nd gear pack that was completed, and the driver air bag. I am new to Acura...I owned a civic before, and drove it cross country 3 times then sold it for a pretty penny. Im just hoping I can get some life out of this car...it has been my dream to drive it for 10 + years, and now I have my hands on it!!

Please provide me some advice...lol I am worried sick ...High mileage 03 CL-S Drivers with build dates after 04/02 Where are you?

I don't want me and my baby to become enemies lol we are having fun together...see?

Seriously if your dream was to own one of these for 10 years then surely you did your research? Calm down and enjoy your car and just know that trans failure possibility and if it happens either get it repaired or swap it like p.diddy suggested. IMHO if your really in that much distress about it then sell it.

from the title i thought u were stranded somewhere in desperate need of help..

u need to smoke some weed and or drink a few and chillax.

it mostly going from 2nd to 3rd that kills the clutches so just don't goose it through that shift often and u should be fine... if u beat the piss outta it like i did it'll last u 18000miles like mine did

ANY used car is suspect to issues driving that long distance. You just never know.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-frequently-asked-questions-52/trans-cooler-install-417551/ that's the DIY with pix

it's not gonna save the trans but it will last longer.

I have the cooler on mine in the same location but higher up so it's directly filling on side of the grill. and i have a trans temp sensor as well.. on a 30degree day in stop and go traffic you will see temps OVER 200!!! which is bloody scarry.

getting the gauge will let u know when NOT to rip your car because at those temps ur literally shaving the clutches down.

also change the trans filter if ur going full blown,, like i did.

You bought the car for a steal and it's running good right now so don't worry about it. Just be prepared and like diddy said, have the funds ready to go when it does crap out on you. You already did the 3x3 so you've done your part.
