no traction at the track

Everyone has been questioning what the 6 speed will do at the track, well here's my answer......not good. I went to an 1/8 mile track thursday night and did horribly. My reaction time from my two runs went from a 1.3 to a .67, which isnt that bad, but my 60' times were like 2.8. I was like WTF....I couldnt seem to get any traction off the line. The first time I dumped the clutch at like 3000rpm thinking the LSD would kick, but it didnt. Second time I didnt hardly reach 2000rpm and the same thing happened again. I dont know....maybe some better tires would give me traction, but I just wanted to get some advice b/c I know this car kicks ass and can do a hell of a lot better than I did.

Instead of dumping the clutch, you're probably better off slipping the clutch. Of course, this would do a number on the clutch, but it should give you a better 60Ft time. Of course, the Michelins are not the greatest either for drag racing . Did everyone else had bad 60Ft times?

Its because you dont know how to launch a MT. The traction control isn't going to do shit for your car in the 1/4 mile, dont believe me, go to the Integra type r forum, and they will tell you the same. You need to find an optimal launching rpm, start off at about 2k rpms, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOU R/T!! Sit there are long as you have to get your rpms right, R/T does not affect time.

When you are at 2k rpms and the light goes green, let go of the clutch only until it starts to give and hold the clutch there while giving the car more gas, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. You will be riding the clutch in first until your tires catch, if they catch right away then just let go of the clutch and floor it, if you have too much wheel spin let off the gas a little till it catches. This process will come natural and fast eventually.

Your next run out you will improve, if you got too much wheelspin, then try launcing at 1500rpms and giving the same amount of gas while riding the clutch..

I do have an auto now, and i just recently had to learn how to launch an auto, my first run i got a 2.35 60ft time.

Im my 6spd GTS i would get consistent 2.2 and 2.3 60ft times, thats with a fwd 4-cyl.

that is a really bad time for a MT. my 60' ft time is a consistent 2.3 and i'm an AT. also, defenitely get better tires, with this much power, the michellins just cant cut it. also make sure ur tire pressure is not too high... some people lower it, but i just make sure i'm at the recommended 32lbs... sometimes when u pick up the car from the dealer, they will have ur tires at 40psi+, so i would check on that, makes a huge difference!

Think TOYOS!

I feel sorry for anyone still running stock tires...They're just plain sad!

This is actually a bad practice because then when he has to drag he won't be as consistent or have as good a chance as beating his competitor.

if u're talking bout who gets to the 1/4 mile marker 1st, then i would agree, but u if u're talking 1/4 times, u're incorrect...i could conceivably sit at the line for 10 seconds, launch, and STILL beat the person's 1/4 time..R/T's have absolutely NO bearing whatsoever on 1/4 times

Most drag racing is first person there, expecially on the street, where I would say a lot of races happen.
