Nifty New Warning Light!

Most of you guys are familiar with Honda/Acura cars where if you fail to tighten the gas cap properly you get a check engine light, right?

The bad thing is, when you get the check engine light you don't know whether its just something simple like you forgot to tighten the gas cap or something possibly more serious.

Well a certain company recently added a "Check Filler Cap" light to their dash cluster so you know if you didn't tighten the gas cap all the way.

2 cookies for the first person that can identify that "certain company".

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Kia, considering they offer a great car for po' people - where else can you get a V6, A/C, power everything, etc, for like $12k and 10 year /100k warranty or whatever they offer. They've got a great thing going there - I hope they succeed with it.

So who is it?

I just tighten my cap EVERY time so I don’t have to worry about such nonsense.

Although there are those of us in wacky states like Oregon where you can't fill up your own gas, and are not always paying enough attention to make sure the attendant tightens it enough. So that light would be useful. Now if I could just get him to stop dripping the gas all over my car when he removes the nozzel.

Spoken like a true out-of-stater.

Man you don't tip them. Sheeeit.

(I grew up in NJ.)

I've considered standing out there next to them so when he pulls the nozzle out I can put a paper towel under it to catch any drips from hitting my car, but then I realized that'd look really really gay.

I make a point of getting gas in NJ whenever possible. Around the Philly bridges it's generally a nickel to a dime cheaper. I've never had a problem with the gas cap yet. However, the gas cap on my 99 SHO just recently caused the CE light to come on and was replaced on warranty.

Hmm, I just ran across an article about it on the web. Maybe it's on all Ford trucks. I should have said it this way: It's standard on but not only 2002 Ford F-150 trucks.

LOL, I was trying to build up the suspense.

Yes, its BMW! (Although other companies may have the same type of light)

I was reading through my owners manual and realized their was a supplemental insert about the "Check Filler Cap" light.

I just thought it was kinda neat since we get quite a few questions about that very same thing on the Accord message boards.
