Hey guys, story time! Yesterday was a nice day for a window tinted warning!

After a car wash, my CLS was shining and clean. Start the engine and doing 65mph on highway 880 S. toward Great Mall. Suddenly, a highway patrol drove passing me and slowed down. Lights up and I got pull over. WTF "Sir, may I know what's the reason I got pull over?" I said to that officer. He said "You can not have a front tinted in CA and yours is too dark. I only saw myself reflected in your window." I was trying to explain to him that I just washed and waxed the car, and you and the sunlight were all on my left. That could cause my tinted more shining and reflecting. But he NICELY repeated again "NO FRONT TINTED IN CA" and gave me a warning plus "Nice car and nice day for a car wash and a warning!! Have a safe drive.":angry: F@#$ him that ain't funny!!

I bought my cls as a new car in memphis TN which had 20% or 25% tinted all around already. Never had any problem be4. After moving to CA last Oct., DMV guy checked my car and was ok with that. Since then, I've run into police car drove passing me or stopped beside me in a red light. NEVER had any problem!!!!

It's just my bad luck or what? Guys, what can I do? Can I go to police station first and explain it to the cop? Maybe let my wife do the talking and I hide somewhere MAYBE cop will sign the warning for her if she acts so innocent(guiltless)? Or it's useless....must spend $30 take tint off and then have cop sign it?

Need the answer soon because I want it done on this weekend.

no tint on the front windows is the law. check dmv's wesite it you still have any doubts. i guess you just ran into a patrolman who was doing his job and had enough time on his hands to enforce someting minor.

If its a warning why do anything? I'd only do something if you got a ticket. He basically let you off.

 

why are you complaining? your tint is illegal and the cop let you off.

 

I work around that area and if you drive around there a lot, better take it off. They're all not that nice.

Yeah, I agree, if it's the law then you must abide by it. Afterall, we all follow the rules and limits on the roads, don't we?

 

oops...I guess mine is a fix-it ticket, not a warning becuz that patrolman told me need to take tint off and let other officer sign the little yellow paper. Never had a fix ticket or warning be4 so i'm a bit confused.

 

So is mine a fix ticket or warning?
And I didn't know anything about this stupid front tint law in CA.
As I said, the DMV guy was ok with the tint and didn't tell me can't have front tint here when I went to DMV to get my CA licence plate and he inspected my car.

ANYone knows a good cop friend who can sign the yellow paper for me?? I'll pay you $50 for the help

oh man, fix-it tickets are the worst....you have to take the tint off, then if u want tint again, u gotta pay somebody to put it back on. Blows.

I've got 35% on sides and 20% on the back. Thats legal here so hopefully they don't bust balls.
