Newbies like me suck.

Hi guys, lurked enough posts, time to say something and hope I don't come off like an idiot.

I'm looking to buy an '03 CL. Black on black, 56k miles. Thing looks mint all around, everything works. The dealership wants 19k. Sound like an ok deal? I'm just nervous about dropping 20 grand on a car, especially after studying the TL for the last 8 months and finding out about trannies on CL's and TL's.

Anything I should look for on the car before buying it? Any advice is helpful.

19k sounds a lil pricey i.m.o.

is it a 6spd or auto?

The 6speed manual trannies have no issues.

There's a steal on a black/black 6 speed with NAVI on ebay in Illinois. It's about $4k less than you quoted, with less miles too. someone needs to get it.

Where are you looking? There a few CL Type S 6spd with and with navi in the NY/NJ area. Check www.autotrader.com and put in 10954 for the zip and 50 miles for distance.

IMO, If it's a 6MT, I don't think that price is too bad. Not a GREAT price by any means, but not bad. If it's an AT, I'd hold out for a 6MT.

Thanks, guys. It's a lease return auto and it's in Seattle, if that helps. Any upscale car is automatically inflated due to the NW's own ego, and checking autotrader shows about the same prices.

dont pay that much for an auto. only reason to get an 03 IMO is becuase of the six speed. if you are going auto then get an 01-02 you will save more money.

Very true. You can have mine for a lot less that 19K.

I picked up a black on black '03 (auto) with navi and 56k for around 18,500 so that deal doesn't sound too bad.

19 is a bit high w/ that kinda mileage, but that's just their asking price... Talk 'em down a bit.

Don't worry about being a newb. We all were noobs here at some point...

oh, and I like price threads

bump for proper forum etiquette and not creating a new thread.

2001 CL-P
black on black
82k miles

listed for 12,900 but I'm sure I can talk them down to 9k cash. Sound close or am I offering right/too much?

12,900 to 9K is a big mark down. 13K for a 2001 CL-P non navi 82K sounds like highway robbery. I think even offering 9K is too much IMO

See, I read about so many people who say they can get these deals on this forum, but I can't find them anywhere. Where are you finding these? I'm willing to fly to some parts of the country and drive it back. I'm in Seattle and any car that is even hinted as luxury costs about 3-5 grand more.

Where are you from again??? I don't think I ever caught that in this thread unless I'm blind. (which is likely).

Same as Ravi, you could have my car for a lot less than $19k too with only 8k miles more. I think half this 2nd Gen CL forum knows I'd let her go in a heart beat for the right amount.

Seattle. And I didn't mean to refer to this thread, but I've read a lot of threads on here before posting, and seen a lot of price threads where I see people claiming they can get a CL (or TL, I was looking at both) for X amount. I go to try and find this amount using nationwide searches, and can't even come close to what others say they can get.
