Steering wheel options?

I've been searching through previous threads and can't seem to find a definite answer. Will a RSX steering wheel work on a 01 CLS? People seem to have issues with the airbag wiring.

thanks

Everybody that says they're going to try it gets sucked into a black hole, or wanders into the twilight zone or gets trapped in the Bermuda Triangle. I've wanted to see someone successfully pull it off or at least give feedback as to what problems they ran into but get NOTHING after the initial hype. Maybe it kills them?

the last thing I want is to have a airbag malfunction, or even worse, it not going off in an accident! I'm swapping out my headunit which will make my steering wheel controls useless, so I wanted to swap the wheel since you can't remove the controls.

why not just pay a little extra to make the steering wheel controls work? Anyone competent installer can make it happen.

for some reason most of the stereo installers say my deck is not compatible for the steering wheel control, i think that's B.S. But I do want a smaller wheel, the stock one is to big and chunky! The RSX wheel is perfect!

Brian is right. There is an interface you can purchase I believe.

Also, for some reason or another, I think I remember reading about the S2K steering wheel being similar. Maybe?

I agree the RSX wheel is very nice...as far as factory compatibility goes. If you had a newer Alpine you'd be able to buy one of the modules to keep your steering wheel functions. I even think you can program them to do something else.

From what I've read an RSX wheel will work. You get the airbag for the RSX & the steering wheel. The connectors are different, but the wires are the same so some wire splicing will do it. You will loose the steering wheel controls & the Curise control unless you relocate the buttons somewhere.

I NEED those so it's no good for me.

If I could keep my radio/cruise functions I'd attempt it, "but I work at Innotech and I'm a big pu$$y".
