Newbie Question -Please take a look

So far it seems there are 2 main issues with the CLS:
1)BOSE stereo is sub-par
2)5-speed Auto is sub-par
Is this it(and a good assessment)? And were any of these "problems" addressed in the 2003 model? FAQ didn't seem to mention anything.

Hey welcome to the board!
Well the main issue is the faulty tranny.
I have not had any problems with mine, and living in the city makes it a great option to a real 6 speed.
My only issue has been the rotors, had them " cut " twice and then replaced on the 3rd trip to the dealer. Other than that the car is great.
Are you planning on a new one or used?
Let us know where you are going to buy and I am sure come local members can give you some names or locations that would be best.

As Hebrew said, Welcome to the Board.
I absolutely love the car, but have had a few problems. I won't give you the details, but the main thing was the transmission. I had it replaced last week under warranty. My local dealer has been great about repairs. Good Luck. Jonathan

Welcome!

The Bose stereo issue has been beaten to death on this forum and others. It's main drawbacks (I believe, owning a TL with a similar system) is lack of power...it's clear, but there's not amplification behind it. On the CL, the stereo also lacks bass.

Transmission problems are relatively common, but just keep up on normal maintenance and I imagine you'll remain relatively problem-free.

Welcome to the board!

Bose Blowz... that's actually the description in our Audio forum. Like AcuraFanatic said, it's very clear, but it lack oomph. Another catch phrase for ya.... "No highs, no lows, must be a BOSE". I think you get the idea. What I did on my CL (and I'm now doing on my TL) is adding some subs in the trunk. Nothing fancy, just a little bass. Just doing that makes me happy.

Not sure what your concerns are with the tranny. I love the SS and it is so much fun. Not as fun as a stick, but still a lot of fun. When driving in full auto it shifts smoothly and works with my driving style. That's one of the cool things about the tranny... it learns your driving style. I can pretty much get it to upshift and downshift on command just by varying the pressure on the accelerator. The only thing different in the '03 is the manual tranny... the auto is the same.

The Bose system is not that bad. I've definately heard worse. I don't crank my music so at normal (for me) volumes it is ample (no pun).

Hey Hey. Welcome aboard. Shoot me a PM if you've got questions about local dealerships, etc. As for the stereo...I don't really listen to it that loud so, not much of an issue for me. No tranny problems yet and no rotor problems....just your typical rattle here, rattle there shit. I'm getting them all taken care of this Friday!!!!

Welcome...

I think you will notice that aside from some failing transmissions, most of the compliants on this board about the cars are relatively Minor.

Good Luck!

My tranny is fine as are 99% of all. The stereo is fine for me as well. The front paint job is my biggest problem. Lots of little chips no matter how much i wax it.
