Newbie Question

WHAT UP PEEPS!!

Hey I have a question about the comptech headers and exhaust. I am very close to getting both or either one of these but during my searches I have become somewhat confused, or Vexxed!! My question is I heard the headers are very nice and they will definatley give more perfromance and sound. The thing i want to know is are they that much different than the ones (Dont remeber the name) I hear everyone talk about that are on EBAY for $125. Everyone has been pleased with them thus far and for the money they seem to good to be true!!

As far as the exhaust goes I read a thread saying to get them and then I saw another one that siad they are only good for sound and not for performance and get the MAGNAFLOWS instead. My only thing with the MAganaflow I dont want my car to sound ricey or anything! I would like it to sound like the 350z for G35 though... INSIGHT PLEASE!!

No one has had the XS Power headers you speak of long enough to prove long term durrability yet. The person to have them the longets is Fuzzy and I think he's had his for a little over a year now with no problems. I had them and they were great. Although they are proven quality, I wouldn't even consider the CT headers due to being highly overpriced IMO. I'd just go XS Power right from the get-go. I think there has been only one, MAYBE 2 cases of fitment issues but the rest have been golden.

For the exhaust, I'm a big fan of leaving it alone. I've heard these Magnaflows and IMHO, I don't think it sounds 350/G35-ish at all. Once you change the headers, the exhaust note will change just a tad and I think it's perfect. The car will also sound a little better if you removed the resonator for the airbox and throw in a K&N filter, or install a CAI (loudest), or an Icebox. You really won't gain much of anything in the way of power by upgrading the exhaust, mostly just sound and looks.

Hope that helps.

What he said.

If you're on a budget, get the XS headers. If you're looking for maximum sound, then an AEM CAI and some Magnaflows will work for you, but it's not going to sound like a 350. Sorry, if you wanted that sound, then you should get a Z.

If I remember correctly....someone just posted a similar thread a couple weeks ago about this. Do a quick search.

Comptech was the first to release headers for our car and they are the only headers without any issues. Perfect fitment, perfect quality, CARB approved, stainless steel, 3 year warranty. None of the other headers compare. However Comptech carries a decent price tag with it, but to be honest you can re-sell it for a few hundred dollars less than what you bought it for if you ever decide to remove them. If you want to save $ you can go with the other header (I personally don't recommend them but they seem to be getting good reviews). However their durability is still in question since ppl have just begun installing them and as Lord Helmet said Fuzzy has had htem on for a year or so.

An exhaust will net you very minimal HP gains. It is more for show and sound. Comptech is slightly louder than stock and throaty. There are axlebacks and catbacks. The catback will be a little louder than the axleback.
