New WBO2 Installed

I got my WBO2 monitor back from TechEdge after my faulty assembly (still cost less than purchasing a built unit) and installed it Friday night. This removed the unit Brad had loaned my, thanks again Brad.

I had to cut the sensor cable to get in through the firewall which required re-soldering. Because of this I had to do another free-air calibration. Once that was complete I fired it up and it worked.

Initially I did notice a few different things between the two units. This V2.0 reacts much quicker, at least the display does. I would say at least twice as quick. But more importantly I see a difference in the numbers. At idle and once warmed I see the number jumping around 14.6 - 14.9 which is close enough to stoich. But with the previous unit I would see it averaging about 14.3. This offset is also reflected in the WOT values; I now see low 12's consistently whereas before I would see high 11's.

So I am not sure which one to believe but I will err of the rich side and add some fuel throughout. From here on I guess I'll believe the current unit as it will always be in place. Regardless, even if those numbers are correct the IC is doing its job as there is not sign of knock even with being leaner that I would before the IC.

Also, I don’t have a red face plate for the LED number segments. I can see the board through the edges and this is not something I paid attention to before. Hey Ramanan, did your kit have the red translucent plastic??

Of interesting note, when I hooked up the RPM input signal to the monitor it would read fine though the software interface. But my tach sure didn't like it. I'll try a diode on there to see if it helps out. If I can't resolve it I'll just hook it up during tuning as the car still ran fine.

The cable fits through the firewall The end which plugs into the main unit obviously.

Yup... it should have been with the kit - you have to press-fit it into the LD01

Diode might help in regards to the RPM issue - which version of the software are you using?

By the way, are you replacing the factory O2 or running a third O2 bung?

I have a 4 gauge wire also going through the "normally used" hole in the firewall. The would not allow for the sensor cable with the connector installed to fit. So I had to cut the connector off, pass the wire through and re-solder it.

Great, I didn't get the plastic. I guess I could cut my own as I don't see a need to get this $0.50 piece mailed from Australia.

Which firmware revision or which PC software?? I beleive the firmware revision was 1.29 and the logger software was whatever is currently available on their site.

I had a 3rd bung welded in when I was at the dyno for the A/F measurements then and am now using it for the wide band. It is located just after the HO2S1.

Hehe... I decided it was easier to remove the 4-guage wire (battery cable) , run the O2 sensor wire connector and then stick the 4-guage back through there

I have the same revision #'s - good.

There is a huge import car showdown going on soon, I had a blast last year. I cut and pasted my post on seloc:

U guessed. I know the people throwing this event. They live near my folks. Awesome people. I was the ONLY SELOC member that tracked last year in the GS, ran a 14.7.14.8. 14.9. I was running every 10 minutes. It was like 90 degrees. I had a BLASSSSSSSSSSST!! Took a Clublexus member/SELOC member with me (CSR). Travis and Sonya are great people. Here is the official site. http://www.importshowdown.com/

First I want to start off thanking all of you who came out last year to race and to watch. You guys / gals made the Track Day a HUGE success! We are very excited to announce this year's Track Day will be held on 05/02/2004 at Silver Dollar Raceway!

To field a few common questions -

Q. What is the Track Day?

A. It's a full day of drag racing catering primarily to high end imports, but all cars are welcome to take part in the fun runs.

Q. Are only import cars allowed to race?

A. No. Domestics are more than welcome to come out and have fun too. The only thing the domestics cannot do is enter in to the "Import Showdown" elimination race(s).

Q. Will there be payout(s) for the elimination race(s)?

A. Yes. Current purse is set at $600, but will surely be higher day of the event. Last year's event paid out over $1,300!

Q. Are there rules for the elimination race(s)?

A. Yes. The rules are spelled on the event web site. The overall general premise is true street cars on DOT approved tires. Feel free to visit the web site for more detailed information.

The Official Website is - www.importshowdown.com

We hope to see you all out again this year as we host the 4th Annual GA 3/S & DSM Track Day - The Import Showdown. This event is what it is thanks entirely to the support and enthusiasm of those who take part in it. Let's keep the momentum alive and make this another record breaking Track Day!

As some of you may recall, last year's Import Showdown race was won by the Batlground Supra. We hope to see more Supras out in force this year.

I'll be down in the Redneck Riviera then, leaving on the 1st. We are starting the girls off well by introducing them to PC Beach at such an early age.

I plan on heading up to Commerce some time this month for some test run. I'll post on SELOC soon to see if anyone wants to go.
