New TL-S remote & steering wheel

I inquired about the butter symbol on the new TL-S steering wheel. I wanted to purchase the emblem & stick it on my steering wheel somehow. The dealer said I would have to buy a new steering wheel & airbag. ($1200) Boooooooo!
Also, the new Acura remote makes ours look like it's from the Flinstone age. Check it out on you next trip to the dealer. Pe@ce

I think someone said you could just get the steering wheel, which is alot less than $1,200, somewhere around $300 I believe.

checked out the tl-s fob at the md/dc/va meet. we had a brand new, black tl-s show up from the tl board.

my first impressions -
yeah, its nice. but not worth the trouble of reprogramming we'd have to go through to use it.

Not worth the trouble programming it? About 2 minutes worth of trouble?

The new remote (which I am going to get) is for an add'l remote, not for replacement (I guess). As for the steering wheel, I don't intent to replace because of the airbag; unless you want to be wearing the emblem on your forehead after the airbag prematurely discharged due to improper hookup (i.e. TL bag on a CL car).

I think the emblem they are referring to is the one that come standard on the TL-S not just one that they want to stick on. In which case I don't think that Acura would design it to hurt you.

Yes, it sure was a big deal to program.
It took me almost an ENTIRE MINUTE to do myself.

Would someone mind tossing a clue my way -- what's the new remote like compared to the one that came with the CL? And how much does it cost?

Hey guys, jus FYI.

A few TL owners have put the wood steering wheel on their cars. The wheel and Airbag are different components. You can probably get the new wheel if you want. Personally, I like the black wood wheel and it would look very nice with the black wood in the CL-S.

The emblem in the middle is distinctive but really not worth the trouble or money.

And for the key fob thing, Jens has told us that it cannot be reprogrammed to the old remotes. sorry. If you do figure it out, that would be great news but so far it doesn't look likly. Hope this helps.

Hey, I would about to pickup the new remote. Could you please point out Jen's post that completely contradicts Shawn's findings...please?

My bad, I meant it doesn't work on the 99-01 TLs. I think it does work on the 01 CL-S.

Also, I apologize, it was Wayne not Jens who gave us the info. Here is the post

Jens/Wayne confirmed that it worked before I bought mine.

Mine has been working for the past three weeks or so without a single problem.
My other TWO remotes (which also still work) are sitting in the drawer now.

For some reason the older TL models are the ones that it WON’T work on.
