I haven't seen one on the Highway yet. With 270 you should be alright, for awhile at least !! Comptech will come to the rescue shortly.

w/what tho? I mean the headers arewelded, theres already a stock cai, all the ycould possibly do is suspension....so far the new tl is a disappointment in terms of modding potential IMO

the headers are welded to what? the engine? I don't think so... I'm sure something can be done headers wise to free up the backpressure from that bump in compression and increase in exhaust gases.

well even if it's welded to the exhaust manifold you can still remove it and replace it. they can't possibly be welded that far b/c I promise they won't be welded to the catalytic convertor. In that case they're the same as our headers which come down and bolt to the A pipe and then are bolted to the cat. I don't see where you got the idea that they would be welded in such a way that would make the headers unreplaceable.

I got the car and it is pretty damn quick. The best thing is I smoked the shit out of my old car when i saw it on the road wednsday night. It was so great and funny. I will find mods for this car, or else i will just supercharge it.

I just wonder who will be the first to put "03" heads on their "04" to accomodate headers, lol.

The manifold portion of the header is a part of the head. On our motors... its the semi-equal length runners that give the power up top.... so figure the same on that car. Upto the collector appears to be part of the head... correct me if I am wrong!

there heades are pretty close to ours with headers...and i think you'll find like the S2000 the 270 hp rating will have been alittle understated probablly more like 285 ...so..hp will have to be found in other areas

I ran/drove one......

The '04 TL's are amazing, my buddies brother just got one and we were out the other night. We were heading from one bar to another and we took the toll road to get there, I kept my car in 3rd gear and stayed glued to his ass as we cleared traffic. I nailed it around 70 just as he nailed it, I swung into the left lane and shifted to 4th, wound that out and had to slow for traffic. From 70 to around 115/120 I made up the car I was down and put one on him. Those babies scoot. And his was the automatic, I can only imagine how quick the 6-speeds are.

After we left the 2nd bar he asks if I want to switch cars, NO PROBLEM!! The car is just unreal, I'd trade my Max in today if I could (the wife would cut my balls off though). The Nav system is cool and the 5.1 DVD sound is the most amazing thing I have ever heard.....it makes my home Bose surround sound weak.

I posted over on the TL forums asking if anybody got any real-world times with them yet, but nobody replied. I'm sure the auto's have got to be in the 14's stock and the 6-speeds a bit quicker. I've driven the earlier TL Type-S (and CL also) and the new TL is quicker without a doubt.

Later,

S.L.

On the new TL the catalytic converter is just about centered right where the header to A-Pipe flange is on our Comptech headers. The inlet to the catalytic converter is maybe three inches from the exhaust ports would normally sit; there is little to be gained here.

From what I could tell in my quick peek was that the catalytic converter mounting flange was part of the head. It was cast with the head; not welded to it. Then the catalytic converter is bolted to this. As mentioned above it is literally inches from where the exhaust ports would normally sit.

Also, I don't beleive, except in off-road appliactions, that you can move the catalytic converters. This would be considered and alteration to the emissions controls and there would never be any CARB exemption and/or possibly violate Federal mandates.

Hey... at leats it has 'factory' turbo inlet flanges

I think a nice 'twin-turbo' TL is VERY possible - two small t3's

funny my bud in his 02 Auto Max and I vs a another friend of ours that has had his 04 TL auto for a month had opposite results. The Max got him on launch and held it that way up to 80 he was at his back bumper and they both were pushing them. He also wanted some of the 350 I got him on launch and pulled on him by abot 2 cars to 80. Vs the Max its a drivers race auto to auto just like the old TLS was.

the 02 has the 255 hp and the underrated 246 lb of torque actaully more like 265 according to several dynos.

whatever the case, the new tl is a PHAT ride! design is just right. i think alot of people are still taking it easy on their new tl's right now.

Yeah, 222 was the pre-02's....those Maxima's wont stand much of a chance against the TL. The 02 autos will match up with the auto TL's and the 6-speeds will be close also. I alomst got a shot at another one today....what a sweet looking car.

Later,

i thought the 02 were 222hp and the 03 started with 255hp.iam pretty sure. or else that race would have been much closer.

Nope once again the 02+ Maximas are the 255-265 hp 3.5's.
