new rims causing issues

i put on 18 inch chrome replica momo wheels on about two months ago. pic below.

i am not experiencing any rubbing. the issue i'm having is that when i get up to about 50, my steering wheel starts to shake lightly. it's extremely annoying!

went back to the place i got them and the guys checked the balancing. it was okay. they are saying that they need centering rings ordered from Japan. these guys have been dicking me around all this time saying these rings will be in next week. it's been 2 months already!

what do you guys thinks? are they right? they say i'm not doing any damage driving around like this. is this true? please help!

I would think right off the back it sounds like balancing issue. I would get a second opinion. Try Costco.

Typically yes you need centering hubs. You should be able to get them from any reputable wheel shop.

Anybody have the center bore for a CL/CLS?

Make sure the place that balances your wheels balances them to ZERO...some places don't!

If it's not the balancing, check to see if the tires are on right. Some idiots will put the tire inside out, therefore the tires are basically fighting each other.

I didn't even think that was possible.

Those wheels are pretty damn nice. That's probably more annoying to you than anything that those wheels are not balancing well. I know you don't wanna switch em out.

Find the centering ring somewhere where it is available.

And oh, post some pix.

We just had a thread about this last week...

Someone suggested you have them balances by a special machine that puts weight on the tire at high speeds...

I forget the name but I'm sure it'll pop up in a search.

Odd enough I just got a new set of 18" Racing Hart C5's and I had the same problem. I just took my wheels to America Tires today and they called Racing Hart and Racing Hart rep told them over the phone that I need Hub Rings to center the rims on my car. It also didn't help that my wheels needed to be rebalanced, however the shaking steering wheel you are feeling I get that too and you MUST get the hub rings also known as hub centric spacers, they are cheap somewhere in the neighborhood of $20 for the whole set. I suggest you order those rings or just call the company direct and have them sent to your house for you to install.

the high speed balance is BS and a big gimick, the post was in relation to what I had asked last week. They call it the "Full Road" Balance and it costs like $60. Forget this, just get the damn rings its $20 bux!

i just got hub rings last night and the guy told me that I only need 2 for the 2 front wheels and charged me $20 bux. Is this true?: Do I only need 2 for the front or all around?

Thanks.

he says you need 2 for the front because that is what is making your steering wheel shake. GET ALL 4. No sense in having 2 improperly mounted wheels.
