Got my obligatory mailing from the Escort Store featuring the new cordless Solo S2 for $330. Looks nice (textured grey), claims to have 400% better range on Ka, new waveguide antenna...probably better than the 8500 if you ask me.

Did anyone else get this brochure?

I am tempted to get one and try it out and probably return it because it doesn't have arrows. Unless the range just absolutely kills the V1, I'm not interested in switching.

I know, I know...I'm falling for the same ole' Cincinnati Microwave hype...yet another detector in a series of failed models (how many, at least 10?) and I keep buying them and returning them because I am curious and gullable; always looking for an edge over the cops. Thank goodness for a 30-day return policy, actually you have till January 31, 2003!

 

At that price, just go the extra bucks and get the V1. I am running a Bel 980 ($200) and love it for the money I paid......

Stick with the V1 until someone comes out with a directional unit.


Disclaimer, I haven't kept up with the latest offerings since I bought my V1. I'm assuming V1 is the only directional unit on the market, to date.

 

It's not impossible for someone to make a unit that is better than the V1, it just hasn't happened yet. Maybe this is it?? YMMV
