New CL Type S and a Question

Greetings,

I am a new CL type s owner. I am finishing up my first week with the car. This replaces a third generation Toyota Supra that was lost in a wreck on the freeway about a month ago. I am fully thrilled with the step up in quality and power. ( the Supra is a straight 6, 3.0L 200 HP )

What is the recommendation for a car cover? Is the Acura cover the best way, or is there a better ( and cheaper ) aftermarket?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Welcome to the board and Congrats on the new car. You'll love driving it. Almost as addicting as this board.

AS far as car covers, try www.autocarparts.com

Tim, the owner of autocarparts.com (as well as acura-tl.com) mentioned a while back that he'd be getting some car covers for our cars. Don't know, however, if they are here yet. Go take a look.

the acura one is not bad. I took a look at it myself. But there are many out there. The best place to find one is to look in the back of car and driver or road and track . they have ads for pretty good ones back there. My dad got one for his 500SL and it was a fantastic cover.

Welcome!, also do a search on your question. I think there was a thread on car covers...a few people had some recommendations and some other posted not to use a certain car cover due to scratching...I cant remember offhand.

welcome and congratulations on such a wise purchase. the acura factory cover will probably give you the best fit but there are covers with better quality material and a fit just as good. try california car cover

Nice to have you aboad, warning it's kinda like crack, once you've tried it, it's too late One recomendation for being new to the board is spend a couple hours going through all the old posts, Just a wealth of information and for some reason, you just become infatuated with the CLs.

Welcome to the board. I have had a little experience with car covers in Southern California and I had the best luck with ones from Beverly Hills Auto Accessories or California Car Covers. Make sure that you get one that has special pockets for the outside rear view mirrors. That makes it fit better and keep the cover in place as well. The best ones I had for temperate climates are the non-Evolution types. Evolution is very heavy and bulky. Best luck was with the polyester outer with the cotton fuzzy backing. When removing the cover always fold from the front by picking up the cover at the bumper and bringing it all the way to the middle of the roof for your fisrt fold. Do the same in the rear. Do it from the driver's side. Then fold again to the middle. Then roll up across the car. This way the outside of the cover never touches the inside (1st rule of keeping the car and the cover clean). When you put the cover on, reverse the process. Good luck.
