new brakes question

Hi,

I need new rear brakes on my car . I called pohanka acura and they quoted me $290 (new pads, machine finish rotors, fluids, etc) for rear brakes only.

Is $290 a good price? that is just for the rear. Service guy says $300 for the front so Im lookin at about $600 total for new front/rear brakes.

Im not sure if i need new front brakes cuz I got the pads replaced and the rotors resurfaced a few times already (warranty), but I havent gotten the rear brakes replaced yet.

Is this price a rip off or should I go to sears or midas?

please advise.

Thanks.

I just did my brakes ('00TL) yesterday. I paid $177 for two new front rotors, 4 Wagner Thermoquiet pads, and 1 can of brake cleaner. When I had the dealer do them 18 months ago, I paid $430 for all four brakes and a tranny service. Sounds pretty pricey to me.

My dad just had his front rotors turned for the first time at 99,000 miles at Tires Plus. They machined the rotors, replaced the pads and the clips for around $125. (02TL-S)

ususally after market brakes do work better depending on which brand/series you get... recently did my brakes myself...

$ 90.00 for premium brakes (front and back)...
28.00 to resurface all 4 rotors...
20.00 to by lunch for my friend that helped me..

i just did my brakes...it was 300 for all four brand new drilled and slotted rotors shipped. I went with the axxis metal masters and they cost me 100 shipped for all four sets. i did the work myself and it took about 3 hours b/c never did it before and the rotors were severely rusted on....total cost = $400 and a couple hours of labor.....performance is great really stiffened the pedal up and the pads have a great bite
