New Brakes - How Much?
New Brakes - How Much?
I have a 2001 CL. I'm at about 53,000 and need new front and rear brakes. I took the car in for an oil change and tire rotation. I knew this was coming.....
How much should I be paying for new front and rear breaks and whatever else they do to the rotors, etc.
My car is at Park Ave. Acura and they said 647.00. I think that this is a lot.
Thanks for the info.

I dont know if its worth resurfacing the rotors, they might charge you a lot for labor, you might be better off getting new rotors....
That's a rip off. I paid about $250 for my last brake job and that included new pads, replacing one rotor and resurfacing the others. The pads were pricy. It really only takes about 1 hour to do the work, the rest of the time is for resurfacing the rotors which is done while the tech works on someone elses car or sits on his ass.
IMO, for that much, get new rotora slotted rotors and a set of good pads and have someone install them, and it will probably still cost less than Park Ave will.
I just ordered new rotors and a set of SS brakelines and it came to about $450. Add another $150 for pads and $100 for installation. Much better than a stock set up for a couple dollars more.

whats wrong /w the rears? usually the problem areas are from the fronts only.. my rotors were warped so i went /w new Rotora slotted fronts ($190), EBC Greenstuff pads ($65) and took it to a local shop for install ($100). so for a total of about $350 I have brand new brakes.. resurfacing rotors is a waste of time and money.. the problem will come back eventually...
I installed my brakes myself. Saved myself 150. I got front and rear Rotora slotted for under 300 and Satisfied Pro Ceramics front and rear for around 70 from Kragen. It's real easy to do all the work yourself but you just have to remember to torque all the bolts. Take it from experience...
