new 1/4 mile track times....

Sorry for the long story..
I went back to the track yesterday night... I had went on the 2nd of september without my headers and the best I could do was 15.3 (with my 19's), so I don't have to tell you that I didnt burn or heat up the rubber.. tires = expensive
...

Anyways, I got my headers installed by thursday night and I went to the track yesterday night (Friday)... I know I need to let the car adjust to the headers (usually approx. 3 days) but yesterday was the only night I could go. I did 14.93 best run with my 17's in the front, but I forgot to lower tire pressure to 21 psi. It was approximately 64degrees outside, dont know about humidity but it was low for sure.... it was a very good night to be on the track apparently.. I just couldn't get better than 14.93 (but i am a newbie when it comes to drag racing) so anyways

Reaction: .331
'60: 2.297
1/8: 9.691
1/4: 14.93

was hoping for 14.6-14.7... I must be doing something wrong. I was always in SS, VSA off, and would just go full throttle... I must have a bad launching technique? Maybe my headers haven't fully adjusted yet? I dunno...

Your launch is good beacause you have a 2.2 60'.

Your mph is good for an automatic CLS + i/h.

Your ET sucks... but I just can't explain why. You should be able to clip mid 14s.

actually, my '60 is more like 2.3 (2.297)....

maybe my headers are not fully adjusted yet and i just dont get the full potential out of them in 2nd and 3rd gear??

Was the car as light as you could make it? Low on gas and everything out of the trunk? IMRC working? Just trying to help!

Your car doesn't need to "adjust" to the headers.

whats the elevation of the track? That could knock off a few tenths off your time. The track by me (LACR) knocks off about .5 of your ET time.

Yeah you can go to the nhra site and type in your et and the elevation of the track and it will correct your time to sea level. Some tracks do it automatically, so maybe call the track and ask if they do.

Anyways, you're on the right track to mid 14's. It takes alot of practice to get good times, and with a more aggressive launch you should be able to pull low 2.2's, which would put you right at 14.7's

You only swapped the 17's on the front right? Could be those 19's. Or your IMRC isn't working.

would the fact that my camber is off affect my launch and '60? I need a camber kit really bad and I'm getting that installed this week.
What else would affect my launch and ET?

Unless your front camber is wildly off it shouldn't matter. I was about -.5 to -1.0 all the way around.

The only other thing I can think of is driver error. Do your tires spin at all?

More than -2.0 That would cause a fair amount of the contact patch of the outside edge of the tire to not make contact with the road. Especially during acceleration from a stop (weight transfer will hurt you more).

That's what he means. Negative camber will wear out inwards; positive outwards. But your 60' is still pretty good.
