Have you considered leasing? I sold my CL and leased a G37S this summer. Totally loving the car, as well as the low monthly payments and all the extra cash in my checking account.

yes but i have to find a cpo bmw to be covered by that...i have just heard so many horror stories of $200 oil changes and $1000 brake jobs...i blindly ignored the auto trans nightmare when i bought my cl...i promised myself i wont do that again...this car has a known defect..i have heard people on bmw forums that have gone through 13 hpfp's !!! no friggin way...love the car but can't afford the maintenance or potential problems...
i am detecting zero love in here for the cts...hmmm
i am leaning towards the accord too...
nah...lexus does absolutely nothing for me...toyota / lexus are souless![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
no sedans for me...love my coupes...when i drove the accord coupe i was shocked how big it felt inside and out...seems like a perfect fit for me..not too big not too small..thanks for the advice though dude

if anything buy used straight up cash, saves money in the long run
NEW is OVERRATED...so is LEASING
That's like renting a house because you don't want to buy one....makes no sense.

He wants a Auto tranns.
Besides, if he is looking at buying a "New" car why would he consider buying a 8 year old car just like the one (Besides the tranny) he is getting rid of? Don't make sense to me.
I do feel the same way you do aout the leasing. Seems like a great way to throw money away. I prefer to buy a car pay it off then when its time to buy another, I can sell the paid off one for a good down payment on the new one. Equity. Can't do that with the lease.

Someone else said this: "I prefer to buy a car pay it off then when its time to buy another, I can sell the paid off one for a good down payment on the new one. Equity. Can't do that with the lease."
Have you ever actually bothered doing the math on this? You are not really saving any considerable sum of money by doing what you just described... Plus you only have a new car every 5-6 years as opposed to every 3 years.

Leasing can make sense depending on your situation. You can mod a lease, but you need to keep all the original parts and return it to stock when you turn the car in.
I looked into a lease, but for that specific vehicle it was less then a $50 difference vs a loan. And the buyout at the end of 3 years if I wanted the car was ~$14k (I dont remember the exact number). With the amount of miles I put on a car, I would have to buy the car otherwise Id be hit with a massive over-mileage penalty.
I do agree that a car is not an investment. The few cars out there from the 50s, 60s and 70s that are now worth much more then they were new are not the norm, and in todays world will probably be the only cars to appreciate over time.

Yes leasing is very situation specific and there's a lot of variables that go into it... and it doesn't work as well for all cars. I thought I got an amazing deal on my G37S coupe, so I wanted to just share what worked really well for me. If anyone is interested, I don't mind sharing my deal.
For whatever reason, leasing has a negative connotation instilled in most people's minds. All I'm sayin is, its worth giving a thought (just like I said in my first post in this thread)

You MAY be able to get a bargain buying a new car from a dealership, if it's late in the model year, they're really desperate to get rid of them some off the lot to make room for the next year's new inventory, and you're willing to negotiate and stand firm...
It looks like you've already made a decision, but have you checked Consumer Reports at your local public library for reliability ratings? You'll have to live with the car once you buy it, after all...
To save you the trouble, I have an online account. Here are the ratings:
Accord (V6)...
2008-2009: "Average" reliability (major brake problems, some squeaks & rattles)
2010: "Better than average"
CTS (V6 AWD)...
2008: the dreaded "black spot" (significantly below average reliability)... major engine, drive system, body hardware, and audio system problems, and some fuel system, suspension, brake, and squeak & rattle issues
the 2009 CTS-V (the 550+ hp one) has "above average" reliability, though... so if you've got $50,000 lying around the house, you should get that one...
G37 (RWD)...
2006-2008: "Significantly above average" reliability, with no major problems
2009-2010: "Above average" reliability (some minor transmission problems in the 2009 model year, but nothing else)
The 08-09 G37 coupe's reliability is "Average," though.
If you can still afford it, I'd definitely go with the Infiniti... Haven't you had a good experience with the luxury mark of a major Japanese automaker? Don't rule the G37 out, at least. An '07 G37 might just be more reliable than an '09 Accord...

if i could afford to sell my car and do it all over i'd get the accord coupe v6 no doubt .
just sitting in that car u feel baller status. and you can get 300whp outta that motor n/a too.
and it's a sleeper... let's be honest. most people wouldn't know wtf that car is capeable of.
hell it can beat the new stock v6 camero and mustang. (which are putting down low low 14s)
if i am not mistaken I thought the v6 accord can do 13.9.
that's enough for to buy it thank you.

Yea, the similarities between the CL and Accord are uncanny. Aside from a few small things, they are pretty much the same car.
And
on the brake issues with them. The 8th gens have a problem with the rear brakes. They wear out in about 30k miles on average. I have no idea why considering the fronts will last a lot longer and they take the bulk of the braking duties. Its a possibility that the e-brake is tightened too much, so I may loosen up the lines on my brothers just to see. But that seems like a major oversight by Honda if that is indeed the issue, so Im not too sure if that is contributing to the problem.
And

accord is the way to go if you want automatic transmission with a comfortable spacious ride.
the g35 s are fast but too small for me
how about renting an accord and g35 for test drive for the weekend

I can do my best to give you some info on the 335.
I just got my second 335xi after my last one was totaled. Seeing that your budget wouldn't allow you to get an 09 or newer, I'd probably stray away from the vehicle.
The 09 has a cosmetic upgrade for the sedan but it also has some mechanical fixes.
1.) HPFP prime prior to starting car, this is on all year 335s now by way of software update.
2.) Thicker wastegate arm to stop the infamous wastegate ratttle on the 07,08.
3.) Upgraded injectors
4.) Newer fuel pump
Overall, I made sure to get the 09 335xi because I love the aggressive new look of the sedan and because it has small differences that make the car much more reliable.
Good luck.
P.S, my wife has an 07 g35x and it's a nice car but the refinement and feel isn't the same as the BMW but it is still very nice. Also, the g37 has the 7 speed auto which some people either lover or hate. Overall, I'd say it might have a better bang for your buck than the 335 though.

i like the contour more.. the bolsters are wider yes but that's to accomidate for the AVERAGE person's width... I myself am not a big person so the cl seats bolster amazingly. but i like the shape more and the hardness work well in conjunction with how you are seated in the seat. and the shifter on the 6 speed is just bang on the money

Just a heads up. If you live in an area with any snow, you will regret the CTS immediately. One of my friends had one and his traction control wouldn't let him out of his driveway. There wasn't a button to turn it off so he called GM and they said that if it's not the CTS-V, then you can't turn off the traction control. He sold it 3 days later...
