I have a favor to ask of you guys. Can someone please measure the width and height of the opening of the Navigation dash trim. Not the navigation unit itself, but the opening in the dash for it. Pictures would be even better. If someone took a picture with a measuring tape or ruler in the picture, that would be absolutely amazing.

yea, i saw them in the navi conversion threads. All I can do with those is guestimate based on other parts of the dash. Im trying to see if an 8" monitor will fit in the opening for a carputer project so I really need exact measurements. If someone could just measure it for me, that would be great.

 

what kinda carputer you thinkin, I want to put a macmini it the glovebox with a touch screen in the dash

The core of the system is a Samsung Q1 UMPC docked in the glove compartment with either a 7" or 8" touch screen mounted in the oem navi's spot. I want something simple, oem looking and easily removable... and the portability of the UMPC is great as well, being a college student and all.

BTW: cls_01, thanks for the info. it helps. In the guesses I made based on pictures from this site, i could swear it is slightly bigger than your specs, at least in height. I guess I can always open up the stock navi trim a little bit more to make it fit.

 

no problem...I remeasured it again...it's 10.5cm (height)
