Need to keep legs clean

I don't know who designed the doors, but everytime there is bad weather that bottom door sill gets covered with crap. Every time I get in/out of my CL-S I have to watch my legs so I don't brush against it. Not a big deal when wearing boots, but other outfits its a pain.

I heard the mud-flaps don't do much, but do they at least keep the door sills clean??

Thanks!

I can't say that this sounds good. Especially for those who have to look presentable at work.

I already watch how I step in and out because I don't want to soil myself. Oh well, I'll get used to it.

By the way, those little fender protectors that sit just inside the wheel wells may help deflect some road grime as well as protecting from dents. Just a thought.

There was talk about this on the old forum. I think someone was trying to figure out a way to use some type of rubber stripping to keep it dry between the pannel and the door.

Yeah, this kind of sucks. I have the 1st gen model and it does the same thing. Too bad they didn't do anything about it on the new one. Oh well, at least I won't have to adjust how I get in/out of the car since I'm already careful!!

Yes its amazing how dirty those sills get. The flaps are only infinitesimally useful as drag brakes. Some how the grime in there is tougher to clean than whats on the outside. I wonder if scuff plates would help the problem but where o where can we get some?

I have the same problem! I noticed it on my way into a job interview. I got the job by the way. I went in the building and the guard asked me if I had to change a flat. What?! I look down and my calves are covered in dirt. Brand new Dockers too. That must be really bad for women who wear skirts. Wearing a shorter one might help.

Same problem here even with mud flaps...annoying! I have to make a conscious effort to open the door a little further (without smacking the car next to me) and lift my leg out further so as not to rub on the sill.

LuckyCL,

Shorter skirts don't help. I kept going shorter but still get scunge on my legs.
Short skirts with taller boots do help though!

Athena, if your skirts get VERY short, nobody's eyes will get down as far as your calves. Just a thought, granted, not much of a thought.... :rolleyes"

Athena, can you take a picture of you wearing a very short skirt and sitting in your CL and post it here?

He he... Well Athena, maybe one of us coudl lick those legs clean? Us Italians are into that, don;'t ask why.
On a serious note, I have a few pairs of khakis with dirt on them. During the winter months I wear darker pants so it doesn't show up as much. I think theonly defense is to keep that part of the car extra clean. Along with your legs.
Nice touch on the boots comment. Do you happen to work for a proegamming or IT firm? Can I fax over a resume?

What I may do is keep a towel and some Z-6 in the back seat so I can wipe it quick.

A fieldcrest royal towel of course!

Putting the wheel well snap on edging is a thought. I could run it along the bottom edge of the door. Maybe if the gap is just a bit smaller is will work.

Sorry to splash cold water on all of you, but I don't have a digital camera or a scanner. Yes, I am in the IT field in software development. I guess I am too practical to buy toys like a digital camera, but that's also why I went with the CL-S. Just a fantastic car in a great price range!

I understand. My company uses digicams for what we manufacturer. I can't tell you what it is, since only five companies do what we do in the entire US. Only two here in the mid-atlantic states. I thought about getting one, but I figured... why buy when I can borrow?

As per our old forum, the dirt on the side ain't nuthin when compared to the friggin ad-hoc "engineer" who designed our seat belt mechanism.

He and his family should be tarred and feathered.

Nope. Save the tar and feathers for the nim-nut who designed the air dam for the sunroof that vibrates incessantly at most speeds. And then save a little for the yahoo who left us w/o a fog light switch.

I can't tell them, but just not on here. I don't want to violate anything. Since I'm not too popular around here with my thoughts on "new age" speech, the less they know about me the better. I received about ten emails from people on here telling me how much they agree with my about that little incident two weeks or so ago. About the slang. Just do a search.
