Need Help !!! Tranny Problem ??

Today, my car start acting weird, when I put it in Park or Neutral, my rpm will jump up and down between 500 to 1500. Then all the sudden, it will go down below 500 and the car die. THen later on the night, same thinig keep happening and my check engine came on. Could that be Tranny Problem or something else ?

My car is 2001 and currently has 70k miles, still is the 1st tranny. I also have Stone Headers, if I take it to dealership, will dealership deny my warranty because of that ? SHould I take out the headers, I really dont want to since it was "pain in the ass" to uninstall then install it again.

Thanks in advance

See if you can get the code pulled first, then reply here with the code. Most likely, it's your IACV or idle air control valve. You might need to clean it or replace it.

I doubt it's your tranny. You said your problems occur when it isn't even in gear.

It's some kind of bad sensor. My 98 CL recently had the same symptoms. Gonna cost you some bucks.

The dealer shouldn't void your warranty, but every dealership is different. However, I don't see a reason for them to complain about it for this problem.

Also, have you even checked the IACV? Why take it to the dealer for that? It's fairly simple to fix or replace. If you can install headers, you should be able to clean and/or replace the IACV.
