NEED all of you guys to help me on this one..

My wife is killing our Type S driving it around the beltway everyday, and I'm racking up the miles on my superduty to fast, not to mention that if I go in to Baltimore or D.C. I have alot of trouble parking the big boy....So here is where you guys come in
I want to purchase a third car for my wife to drive to work everyday and here is a list of what is needed:

1. fuel efficient
2. dependable
3. fun to drive
4. stylish
5. safe, very safe
6. and I really don't want to spend more than 20k
7. must be new

please give me opinions and suggestions on what car would meet all of these requirements

Thanks A lot fellas...and ladies

Honda Accord LX

Nice on gas, Safe, Stylish, She'll love it, and not miss the "S" so much cuz the interior is kinda close.

Get her a Civic. If it can be a little used, get her a Civic SI. They are fun to drive.

those TDI Vw's are great on gas mileage. They get like 40-50 MPG and will run forever!

Yeah, the new RSX, read all about it here:

http://www.clubrsx.com/

The official release date for the Acura RSX is July 1st or 2nd, 2001

The MSRP should be in the $20,000 to $25,000 range

go for the TDI VW's then. It's the turbo diesal motor. They have them in all thier models. And are well under 20K. I saw a review where they got 60 something MPG!!!!!

AND YOU CAN MOD THE SHIT OUT OF THEM IF YOU CARE TO

Get an accord, its the closest thing that exists to CL But on a more serious note, CIVIC is to small, god forbid someone hits a civic there won't be enough left of it to even figure out what car it was My aunt had a brand new civic, got rear-ended on a freeway by a Suburban. The car looked like an s2000, no trunk, no back seats, nothing she was lucky that her seat was very close to the steering (she is pretty short) thats why she did not get hit (hard) but the passenger front seat was part of the wreck. So in my opinion small cars are equivalent to a death wish, because no matter how great of a driver you are, there are always idiots around.

With these requirements you might have to get a Hundai.
Payments for an base Accord or Civic may not be that much more...

yeah I would also agree with going with a VW.

VW Golf, TDI or the 1.8T. the 1.8T engine is fun.

VW beetle GLS 1.8T. ($19,000)

or how about a Jetta. Jetta's can get expensive but you don't have to go overboard. A fun 1.8T GLS MSRP of $19,200.

Chevy Impala! Its a nice car. Take a look at it. If you want something nice and <20 you're talking domestic.

Arik, i agree with your safety statement. My mother was rear ended by a tractor trailer in my father's Lincoln Mark VIII. Pretty bad.
I'll take a Grand Marquis over a Civic anyday.

Don't look at the Impala, its a biggest piece of shit in the world, lack of power is ridiculous - and I am talking about a police version, I can't even imagine what kind of a hunk of junk civilian car is.

Recently test drove a Subaru Impreza WRX. 4WD, 227 HP w/ std turbo, price - low $20's. I believe it's quicker than a CL-S plus front/rear balance is better ... it simply goes where you aim it. Would make a great winter car too.
Good luck!

Most humble opinion. Just ended a 16 year relationship with 2 Accords, '85 four door and 92 coupe. Both 4 bangers with sticks. After 170,000 total miles, expenses were low. Ten tires, two batteries, 2 belts, frequent oil changes, thats it. This kind of reliability led me to the Acura neon sign. Acura dealer gave me 8,000 for the 92 coupe. Makes me smile to write this. Seize ya.

thanks for all the advice guys heres what i have tested so far:

VW Jetta wolfsburg edition - very nice, but what about reliability????

Honda Civic EX - loaded for 17k out the door nice car

Sentra SE - loaded and quick, with nice wheels and sport pkg, out the door for 17k (drawback - 4 door)

Integra - very nice- but I hate the headlights

Z24 - makes more noise than my 7.3 turbo diesel and it has no power

Ford Focus - interior is not for me and relibility a ????

Bottom line is that for the money the Sentra SE is the best deal,

VW jetta wb - has everything and great safety features, but I need some feedback on reliability, anyones advice or opinion is appreciated.

Civic EX is in the lead right now because of gas mileage, price, reliability, and feel.
