Last night my navi screen locked up, so when I came to the next stop light I shut off the car. After about 15 seconds I restarted it and the whole navi screen was blank - nothing, nada, zero! I tried this a few times last night to no avail. Then magically when I started the car up this morning, everything was back to normal. Has anyone else seen this problem before?

 

I had a problem when i just got my tints that the Navi would go into diagnostic mode. Where did yours freeze up? Haven't had a problem since. Also when it gets really hot out the Navi will sometimes malfunction. Don't know where u live but this too can lead to a problem. Also check the DVD as it might be time for a cleaning. Good luck.

 

how long is navi covered under warranty?

 

50,000 miles. I had this problem... Acura replaced the NAV unit for Free.. it is was like $300-$400!

 

Mine has like some kind of lines going though screen when I push on gas ...is this normal? kinda like noise in speakers when car is grounded wrong way when you get an amp wired.

 

The problem occurred while it was recalculating the route. The funny thing was that when the screen froze, I noticed the car was pointed about 50 degrees in the wrong direction on the screen! Hopefully it was just a glitch. I have 76K on my car now and given the history of my car, I believe my car must have been built on a Friday. I've decided with all the trouble I've had that if the tranny goes out again I'll get rid of it. I like the new TL, at least what I've seen of it so far, but my experience with this car kind of makes me want to run the other way from another Honda product.

 

My Navi used to Lock-up ALL THE TIME in the blue screen where it would tell you the distance to the next turn. Same thing, my screen went blank and wouldn't reset with the car turning on/off.

I had the DVD-ROM in the trunk replaced, and when that didn't solve the problem had the head-unit replaced. It all works now and it's only locked up once since I got them both replaced this winter. After it locked up most recently, it reset once the car sat with the engine off and key out of the ignition for 5 minutes---

 

I have something similar happening, and it has been happening once in a long while, but recently, it's been happening at least a few times a week. When I start the car, the nav screen is blank and then shows weird staticy lines. And the only way to get rid of this is to turn the car off and start it again. But it doesn't even fix itself right away the first time I restart - sometimes I have to do it 2 or 3 times.

I've figured out that I don't need to start the car, but just turn the key enough to get the radio and A/C on. Then I can see if the nav screen will start up normally or not.

Still, this is quite annoying and I plan on going to the dealership soon to have it looked at. But it doesn't help that I have almost 90K miles on it - I don't want to pay for this repair or new nav unit.

Has anyone been able to get this fixed without going to Acura?

 

Mine's at the dealer (going on the 3rd day) getting a new Navi unit and maybe a radio. The Navi voice stopped working and sometimes the screen would act lost for quite a few minutes lately.
Also getting hood struts replaced and a new seat belt retractor, and a few minor things fixed.
I am aware of the risks of having the dash torn up but it's under warranty and if I ever sell it I want it working right.
They provided me with a TSX. It's not bad, for a loaner.
