Navigation kicks ass!!

Went to Carmel, CA for a couple days. First time I really used the Navi system. Brought me directly to the resort, from there to the 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach and then to downtown for shopping. I was amazed at how easy and spot on accurate it is. It's awesome never having to ask for directions or print maps from Mapquest. My wife was flat out amazed how easy it makes a road trip. I should have gotten Navi with my '01. I thought back then I would never use it. . .

17 Mile Drive was a blast. I really wanted to rip through there with the 6 speed, but there was too much traffic. Trading up to this 6 speed was the best thing I've ever done. It changed everything about the car to me. It's much more fun to drive now.

I know exactly what your talking about. I love my Navi. I am so happy I decided to get it.
I drive to LA about once a month, and it saves my ass. I can find any location, without a problem!

People who have it love it and those who don't say it's a waste. Go figure :P

As you said it's great when you use it, or need it. However, my overall use for the navi is less than 1% of my overall time in the car. Most of the time it's a large digital clock. Even the originator of this thread had the car for X amount of time before he really used it and then realized he loved it. I think that is what the people mean that say they wouldn't use it.

I have lived in 2 new cities since I've had my CL-S and I put the navi to use at least once a week going to a place I've never been. It really came in handy last christmas when I made a ten hour treck up to Amarillo from Austin.

The BIGGEST DOWNSIDE IS...... I don't think I will look for another car without it!

I got it for the cool gizmo factor and I thought I would stop using it after a month.
Now I use it almost everyday.

Here's a hint: input your home and work as personal addresses. Then no matter where you are leaving from you can use those POIs to make it calculate the fastest way back to the freeway/highway. When you get to the main road you can turn off the routeing info and just let it display the cool map.

Also its great for driving canyons you are not familiar with because you can see the turns coming from miles away on your map display. No info on camber and elevation changes but at least you know ahead of time which direction youre going to be looking in.

My only problem with navi is that I wonder how far off it is that we select our cars by the nav systems in them. For instance, I hate the Jag nav system, and would have to pass up any Jag because the navi is such a pain to use. My wife wants an MDX because she already knows how to use the nav system in it. I would hate for navi familiarity to increase brand loyalty because then the rest of the factors that go into auto design will suffer.
