Navi... Would you Get It Again
Hey guys, I am your common-variety newbie. Make fun of me all you want! As you can see in my profile, I am very close to finally getting the car I have dreamed about for 6 months!
My question is: To those of you who have Navi, would you get it again if you were buying your CL for the first time?
Thanks!
~CLFinney
BTW... If you know anyone in the Memphis area or close who might be willing to part with a CL, send me an email.

Yes, I would get it again. Trust me, alot of people don't see the justice of paying $2000 for the Navi, but I think it's GREAT. Not only it's a Navigational system, it also has restaurants listings, etc. I'm never buying another car w/o Navi. or any cool electronics.

I would definitely get it, without even thinking twice. It is the best accessory/option I have ever had in my car. Not only does it give directions, its an electronic yellow pages.....I almost never dial 411 ever since I got it.
I sat down and did the math before I bought the car, and the navigation was only an extra $17/month. For 17 buck, its the coolest and most useful "toy" I have ever had.........
BUY IT!!!!!

No question. Get it. If you're looking for a 2001, then it's going to be used, right? Well the navi hardly adds any resale value to the car, so it's a pretty much a no brianer. Plus girls think it's cool if that means anything to you.

It's extremely convenient, if you're ever lost or need to find a certain place, plus its got so many damn features. And chicks love the damn thing
Everyone who sits in my car ALWAYS messes around with it

Also, don't forget that with the navi, you have the option of converting it to run DVD's/video games. Its alot of work, but definitely worth it. It makes traffic less annoying when your watching a movie, or watching TV (TV-tuner req.).
Once again, get the Navi. Since your looking to buy a used car, the Navi will not make much of a price difference.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I've never regretted it. I'm happy to have it. I just wish future upgrades will bring it to the level that the current Honda system is at. It would be cool if they could hack it so it's voice activated, using the microphone from the onStar system.
Plus, when you're driving around in no hurry, and you see this twisty road in the map you didn't know was there, you know you can make a quick detour, have some fun, then get back on course, no matter where that road ends up

NAVI RULZ !!!
I would buy it again and as a matter of fact, I did.
My 2001 Slush-Box had it and when I bought my 6-Speed in March I decided to get it again.
Most of the people that tell you it isn’t worth it DON’T have it in their car and have no idea how handy it is.
Even if you’re just taking a short hop (50-75 miles) and know where you’re going, it’s nice to have a co-pilot calling out the exits and letting you know how far away your destination is.

Yeah, I'd get it again. However, I'll be the first to admit that I don't use it more than 1% of my total driving time. Most of the time it's just a fancy clock, but on that rare occasion when I use it it's priceless. Also, it's kind of cool when the less fortunate ride in the car and they are completely wowed by it.

I'm going against the grain.
If you are going to put in a system, then I would consider not getting it and going aftermarket.
That being said, I got it and have no regrets.
Just my .02

I wish I had got it when I bought the car. But I had a little different mindset than I do now, and less money. It adds huge cool factor to the car and is damn useful and I wish I had paid the $2k and just got the darn thing. Lesson learned for me.

Even though you we're just playing devil's advocate, I'll comment that aftermarket headunits look like crap in our car, plus the flip up screens get in the way of easy use of the ac controls in a non-navi car. Not to mention my the old adage of the less moving parts in a piece of electronics the better. Those flip out screens can only be asking for trouble later in life.
The stock navi looks so incredibly clean... and will be much more difficult for a theif to take than an aftermarket one as well.
This will be $2000 you will not regret whatsoever.

Ya i wish i had gotten it as well! I bought my car used, so it was really an option.
Here is a better ? for you guys. Would u guys rather have a type S or navi. Both of them are $2k, but if you could ONLY chose one, which would i be??? Im undecided.

When I was shopping around for my car I didn't think Navi would be cost-effective for me. (My town's less than a mile square, I know NYC & NJ like the back of my hand, I use public transportation to get to work.) I figured I could save $2k.
Now, I kinda regret not getting it just for the "gadget" factor. I think my next car will have it.
Get it, even if you think you'll never use it.

Without a doubt, I will get it again and again and .....you get the idea. Best $2000 I ever spent on an option in a car. All my future cars MUST HAVE navi too!

If not for the Type S, I probably would have gotten the 200HP Accord at the time.

I would most definitely get it again for sure! The $2000 extra is worth it...unless you live in some hick town and you don't travel much...then it might not be worth it. Besides...the ladies love it

Top 10 ten reason why NOT to get the Navi, this is from this forum, but I guess the anti-Navi folks aren't going to reply so I'll reply for them:
1.You cannot afford it. You think that one day they're going to starting charging money to use those satellites and current Navi owners will be driving around with a "paperweight" on their dash.
2.You can afford it but you think certain things are a "waste of money" because it costs $2000 for the Navi but it's resale value is only $400.
3.If you still live in the 80s and you believe that electronics like cellphones and GPS are strictly for salespeople and real estate agents.
4.If you still live in the 80s and you believe that a paper map is easier for you to read and is a cheaper alternative, just like you don't need a cellphone because a quarter in your pocket and a pay phone is on every street corner.
5.If you honestly believe you know ALL the roads in your city or you ALWAYS know where you are going at ALL times and therefore you are smarter than any ol' Navi system. Whenever the US goes to war and they turn on SA, the Navi accuracy goes down the toliet anyway.
6.You'd rather wait for the super-Navi which will include real-time traffic, built-in cellphone, Navi-to-Navi tracking, and a broadband Internet connection, all for half the price. Navis will be in all cars one day, why not wait till they "get the bugs out". I['m tired of being the guinea pig.
7.If you believe it is unsafe to operate the equipment while driving.
8.If you think YOUR city changes so fast that the roads, the phone numbers in the database, and the POIs are all wrong very quickly thus making the Navi obsolete within weeks of purchase. Of course the upgrade CDs that come out once a year are much too expensive, too.
9.Can't see the screen in direct sunlight. Therefore it is useless in Tampa, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and San Diego plus other cities that receive an abundant amount of sun all year long. Navi was made for Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, and Anchorage in the winter.
10.Maps of Canada are not included and if you live in the US and still think that Canada is part of the US,well then the maps are incomplete. Of course there are other "holes" in the maps within CONUS but it's really the missing Provinces that broke the camel's back.
Oh, did I forget, if you are already married, you don't need the "chick magnet."
