HIGHER vs LOWER mileage?
So ------ after reading the complaining thing about Navi -- my sensical side is kicking in again...
Maybe I should go for the 99' with lower mileage but sans Navi...
I still have my auto HVAC -- no cool screen in the dash to impress the friends, lol, but eh.......
what do you think??
Lower mileage 99 Non Navi
or
Higher mileage (about 20k more) WITH navi...
because I plan on keeping this car a lonnnggg time (til after pharmacy school 6+ years...)
Would the navi be a problem in the long run?
Secondly -- if I get the one with Navi -- the manuf. warranty is no longer in effect which makes the extended warranty I plan to buy more expensive and less coverage....

You could always put an aftermarket navi in your car. Look in the gallery at Snook's motorized monitor. You could have this hooked up to a variety to things (i.e. REALLY impress your friends
). Then you wouldn't have to worry about those extra 20,000 miles that someone else racked up. Plus you could add the navi whenever you have enough money.
Peter.

Assuming both cars are in excellent conditions verified by an inspection, i would get the one that i want the most even for a few bucks more cuz i'd be planning to keep it a long time. If me, i'd definitely want the navi one after ensuring the car is in top condition. Depends on prorities i guess but i just hate to look back and say "i shoulda gotten the other one.." Buying a preowned car, u just never know, so an inspection is about the best u can do to help u in the decision.....
Good luck!

Even higher/lower mileage is questionable.....a higher mileage vehicle, driven mostly on highways would be preferable to a lower mileage vehicle, that was driven in and around cities with a lot of stop and go traffic.....
After having owned a car with the NAV, I will definitely go with the car with the NAV.....but the 1999 TL's NAV is different from the 2000+ TLs....it uses 6-8 CDs to cover the entire US, while the 2000+ TLs use a single high capacity DVD to give the exact same coverage. In addition to that, the 99 TLs use a 4-speed Auto transmission unlike the 2000+ TL with the 5-speed. The 2000 also employs side airbags (99s do not have Side airbags).....Due to various engine changes and intake modifications, the 2000 TL also have better low-end torque and mid-range power than the 99s, even though peak HP/Torque figures have remained the same...
Just a few thoughts...

If you plan on keeping the car for the long run I would get the one you really want and will be more happy with which sounds like the Navi. The biggest mistake you can make is sometime down the road going to yourself "Damn I should have gotten the Navi, I would have been more happy with it." Mileage shouldnt be that much of an issue if you really are keeping it for the long run. You'll probably have to do everything you do on the higher mileage car sooner than the other one, but the lower mileage one will need the same stuff eventually. 20k for me and posibly for you living upstate can be just a years worth of driving. So the same stuff will have to be done to both cars just at different intervals.
The Highway vs Local mileage is a big deal also. Near me people prefer buying Long Island cars vs city cars as the LI cars tend to be more highway vs stop and go than the city cars.
Also consider how good is Navi coverage for your area?? My Area is fully mapped. How about yours?? If it isnt then it might not be a good investment. Good Luck
