I thought I'd share my experience with you all:

My CL was in an accident in December (only messed up the front bumper skin), got it fixed, the body shop did a decent job. They ended up reshooting the clearcoat on the whole front, so it actually looks better overall.

After the repair, their detailer decided to clean the interior a bit, and wiped off my windshield and Navi screen with a dirty rag, scratching the shit out of it.

I was able to polish out the windshield, but not the Navi. I showed the shop the full dealer replacement cost of the screen at $1700 with labor, and they balked. So, I pulled the screen myself, and sent it directly to Alpine in California.

$154 total with shipping, and they replaced the glass on the touchscreen, good as new.

Now, it's time to order a couple Navi screen protectors, one for mine, and one for the wife...Any recommendations? (I'm working with someone on eBay)

 

Do you really need them unless you're gonna wipe it down with a nasty rag again?

 

Would be a great idea to have one.
