Nasty rear window tint.

I've decided to go full custom with my CL and get the windows tinted. I have one concern though. There is an area at the top 6 inches of the rear window where there is a grouping of dots that fill the space. My Accord has the same effect, and the tint never bonded consistantly with it. It always really bothered me, and it's making me have second thought about getting the CL's windows tinted. Have any of you noticed this effect too? Have you been able to find a reliable tint show that was able to lay the tint down well in that area? Thank you for your time.

I have the same problem with my tint. However I heard that there is some new adhesive out there that will almost eliminate the inconsistent look.. Ask a reputable tint shop in your area.

On mine I had them not tint that area. It looks a hell of a lot better that way and you can't even tell there is no tint.

I was told it would go away on my last car and it never did...I was thinking about having then not tint that area and just painting the inside of the glass black. Do you guys think that would look okay?

yuck! just tint the whole damn window! i think two different contrasts to the back window would look ugly. i had my tint shop tint the entire window w/ their llumar tint. it did adhere pretty well. my only gripe is that they couldnt tint the opening for the window mounted 3rd brake lamp since i have a brake lamp on my spoiler. imo, it looks un-classy w/o the ENTIRE window being tinted.

I had my car tinted %35 all around, they did a smooth ass job, but they didnt tint that top portion of the back window. It annoyed me in the beginning, but it's not noticable at all, unless you really look.

I had my entire rear window tinted w/ 35% including the area over the “dots”.
I think it looks fine and the members who saw my car at the New Jersey MEET last year can confirm that.
If you put your nose right up to the glass, you can see some irregularities, but they disappear once you step away a few feet.

The only thing I didn’t like that my installer did was that he cut around the brake light.
He said there is a 10,000 fine if you cover the brake light in PA.
I think he was just too lazy to remove the rear shelf.

I would say just tint the entire window.
Make sure you specify to cover the brake light if you have a spoiler.

Hydraulics...they make the car go up and down. Don't worry. It doesn't hop. I'm not going to put 13" daytons on it. They don't leak oil everywhere, and it rides great (thanks to accumulators). I just like my cars to lay flat on the ground and tuck a lot of wheel. I keep it classy though. If you take a look at the link to my accord in the signature you'll see what I mean. I'm in the middle of the install right now, but I'll post pictures as soon as it's done

I was pissed, I went to a recommended tint shop in my area, and the Mother F!@#$% cut the leads to the rear defroster. And now they say, We didn't do that. And you can even see where the tint ends on the glass is where the leads are cut. PISSES ME THE HELL OFF. TIME FOR A BATTLE!!!! ROUND 1 about to start

i asked the people who did my cl that question and he told me that the reason why the tint doeasn't seem to stick to that area is because it is ceramic....not really glass. i'm not sure how true this is but he says the tint will not have the same look on ceramic as in glass. he also said it will not peel....which is what i was more concerned about! again, i'm not sure how true his statements are....just thought i'd share!

They had told me that it wouldn't stick to the top portion...they said it's a gamble, sometimes it'll stick and sometimes it won't...it isn't noticeable outside of the car....you get used to it. As for the not tinting the top, I agree with some of the others that it looks kinda cheesy...and defeats the purpose of tinting...but that's just my two cents.

Just have them tint up to the dots and then put a strip of black vinyl across the dots. They put it on the inside of the window and it blends well on the outside and doesnt look to bad on the inside. Looks a lot better then no tint over the dots(which i had for a week)

Is it just a $10000 fine in PA for tinting over the brake light? cause the guy i used didnt ask and tinted over the light with 20% but FL doesnt seem to care about these things.

I just got my windows tinted with this metallic type tint. the guy at the shop didn't cover the top part of my rear window. he said that the metallic tint would screw up my stereo reception cause thats where the antenna is. is this true? if it is, then can i put a piece of black vinyl on the outside or would that also screw up my reception? i would put it on the inside but think it might have the same bonding problem because of those damn dots. please give me some advice.
