NA Exhuast set up

Im looking to put together a high flow Custom cat back for my 6 Speed. if I have to have a resonator it has to be a high flowing one, and I want the mufflers to be as stock and free flowing as possible. I will probally want to weld on some stock looking tips to them preferably tips that resemble the TLS ones. What do you guys recormend?

The muffler shop I went to was able to keep my stock tips and weld them onto my MagnaFlows. It looks 100% stock, just the way I like it.

yea I know, I was just looking at your other thread and was going to PM you and ask you what kind of mufflers you have. Unfortunately I need piping bigger than stock right so your nice set up wont do.

Run a 2.5 high flow cat, 2.5" piping and have it split to 2.25" at most. Use HKS mufflers or some Magnaflow mufflers, and maybe an inline straight through muffler acting as a resonator, like an ordinary glasspack.

Get that j-pipe done though, I think its holding you back a bit, just check the piping size on the collector and tell me what you find.

they said the J Pipe wont fit my car and its just for cars like the 04+ TL that doesnt have headers because of the twin CATs

I would just put a RT cat under it & call it a day. There's just not a whole lot to gain from the CLS exhaust. Get some muffler's to change the sound if you wanted. Going a whole custom setup seems like a waste of $

i measured last night and I was right. I would not go larger than 2.5 throughout if you do end up getting custom piping.

As for the muffs, you can weld your stock tips to any muff but myself and many others have had good luck with Magnaflow. They are straight-through design and sound rich and not ricey at all. You can get tipless ones and add your own. If you want it too look super-stock then sand and paint the can flat black.

yea painting the mufflers black is exactly what im going to do. I still want the TLS muffler tips but I probally would end up just taking the tips off my stock mufflers and putting them on

12215 or 12216 (center/center) if you are doing custom piping, 12225 (offset/center) if you are keeping stock piping. (all 5"x8")

I will probally go full 2.5 from the cat to the mufflers since im already running a 2.5 300 cfm cat so I will get this one, should be good for maximum flow.

That would work, but also consider you might be able to get away with 2.25" to the muffs and not lose any flow since you are splitting the single 2.5" pipe into two pipes. The sound will be different either way you do it - and from what people have done in the past I think 2.25 after the split sounds deeper. Ask around though.

Found out something weird today too - got under the car and looked around and it looks like some previous owner had the B-pipe replaced along the way. Whoever did it forgot to put the resonator back on so I have been running sans resonator from day 1 of owning this car and never knew it. I'm excited to pull my mid muff and add a high-flow res and see how itsounds. hopefully next week
