A mystery that has taken one year to solve!
Maaaaaaaan, there is this squeek that comes from the back seat area of my car. I have taken it to the dealership a billion times to fix it. But Murphy walks in and it stops as soon as I reach there. It is so aggravating. The tech guy starts laughing when i come in. The worst part is it does it only when it is cold. And the inside of th car has to be cold as well. Not a peep during the summer. The dealership told me to drop off the car monday and they will keep it overnight and drive it first thing in the morning. I was kinda relieved. Anyways, i am coming home from a movie last night (at like 2) and this thing is squeekin all over the place. My cousin says she wants to try driving my car. So i pull over and let her drive. I hear the squeek and i swear to god it echoes thru my head. It kills any joy that i have over my car. So anyways, i weasel into the back seat and sit there and wait for her to go over some bumps. i always assumed it is where the rear seats meet the pillar right at the reare deck. I figured that the leather must be rubbing against the pillar. NO!!!!!!!!!!! It is the headliner. Oh man i was so happy to figure this out. That is why i had to share. Otherwise...the sound makes it feel like the car is flexing ...and that is unacceptable. But that isn't true and i am much happier now. Thanks and fuck off. :P

I think i have the same exact sound. mine is from the headliner too, and why i push on certain parts it also squeks. SOunds like it's from the driver's side rear right? No the main question is how to fix it. I'm going to bring mine to service in 2 weeks, if you get yours fixed, i would help alot if you could find out exactly what they tweaked. Thanks My temporary solution this whole time was smacking the headliner with my hand to shut it up and it worked for a few days.

I have a TL and I have this problem. Every time the car flexes (I go over a bump or I go in my driveway at an angle) I hear a leathery sound coming from the back. I have taken it the dealer and the sound it still there. What is a good way to describe it to them? What exactly is the headliner?

i, too thought it was a flexing-leathery sound. But...rest assured our cars are not flexing that much(phew!) it is the headliner...that is part over hour head. The fuzzy stuff covering the roof or your car.
