I am very happy to hear that the pipe was indeed banging against the heat shield. glad you are happy with your headers now!

81 posts and it was a heat sheild?!?! That should have been one of the first things that you checked!

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you are now a satisfied customer like MOST of us on the board.

Sorry to raise this from the dead, but something interesting happened.
I went to small road track at the end of July.
While I had my backseats out I could really hear the resonance, but it didn't sound like it was coming from the front anymore. (Maybe it was rubbing on the cat's heatshield)

Well after hard driving on the track the resonance is pretty much gone.

Not sure what the prolonged heat did but it helped.

you left a few people out to dry as well. I still have the shiny metal which your good friend carlos and yourself refused to exchange. and I spent over $500 not $150 for a defective product that not only resonated but blew holes in gaskets right near fuel lines. You took the money from me and you should've been the person mediating the situation until it is resolved. Nothing got resolved. Myself and a couple other dudes were left without their hard earned cash or the header that actually fits.

That's why I don't buy anything from Vendors on forums...if I have a receipt, I can exchange if it is a defective product without any fuss.

kbc5960, I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to edit the first post and insert the quote about the heatshield there so people in the future won't have to read 4 pages...

First off, don't lie. I didn't leave anyone out to dry. I refunded most of the ppl who had issues. Like I said last year when this was an issue (funny you're still talking about it), anyone who didn't run exhaust through the headers could be refunded in full for the item. You ran exhaust through the product.

Secondly, Carlos is not my friend and I do not deal with AW anymore and they are the reason I don't recommend dealing with cheap Chinese headers. And I have dozens of emails where I tried to help you out with this warranty issue. I even sold you an Icebox at cost to help you out. I sent something out as a "Gift" for you to avoid duties so WTF? I then kept in contact with Carlos for you. I can't remember how it ended but you two had an issue with shipping I thought. So don't try to bad mouth me. You are the only person still talking about this. I tried to help you and I did work with you for weeks.

I was stuck with a number of losses myself on these headers and plenty of AW header paper weights. I refunded virtually everyone who had an issue, as long as they didn't run exhaust through their headers and if they did I helped out with the warranty. I figured out after the fact that the headers had issues and I figured out after the fact that AW Customer service had gone sour so I refunded people for the header and stopped selling their headers. I did what I could.

To GreenMachine, I'm not saying you have to buy from me but just FYI buying from the vendors on this forum is like supporting the site since we pay the fees to help keep the site running. It's b/c of vendors that you are able to enjoy Acurazine free of charge. And I don't know about the other vendors but I have receipts for all my sales.

I ordered XS headers $140 shipped. I used the gaskets that came with the headers but I used 7/16" bolts, they're a perfect fit, no forcing to get everything lined up, plenty of clearance for the o2 sensor. The flanges weren't exactly flat but there are absolutely no leaks or resonance. I tried to reproduce the resonance at the rpm's that others had. I guess I got lucky and got a good set.

The fact that these went on without any hassles and have lasted 2 months without any problems is worth $140.00

Belcom, I got screwed too but at least I got most of my money back.

GreenMachine, I won't ever buy from forum vendors again.

Excelerate, I think you're confusing Belcom for me. I was the one that you deducted the shipping cost from my refund but you didn't even pay for the shipping back to AW.

I doubt Excellerate got stuck with any headers, AW took my headers back AFTER I installed them and ran exhaust through them.

I'm not confusing him with you. I know who you are. I refunded the whole amount on your headers. Notice I said refunded in full for the item, not the shipping. I think you lost about $15 for the shipping. Give me a break; you were refunded. I'm glad you know my inventory status and whether I got stuck with headers or not. They took your headers back b/c they were going to do warranty work but they never did them in a timely fashion so I refunded you and they eventually refunded me for yours. This is a lose lose situation for me since even when I've refunded ppl they are still complaining.

why are you guys still going on about this?

it's been clearly shown that Excelerate went above and beyond in every case to try to ensure everyone was happy. I am sorry that some of you feel slighted, but from what i read in here, none of it is Josh's doing.

Lay the blame where it belongs, with the shoddy manufacturer who had virtually no semblance of customer service!

and for the record, buying from vendors does indeed help keep this site here, so you all can come and bitch and moan a year later. If you want to be able to do it again next year, support those who support the site!

Hey RooEng, that's an interesting fact. I got no money back at all. Nobody helped me return the headers really. I called them I emailed them and they wouldn't take it back.

Excellerate, There was no problem with shipping. I would've shipped at my expense for the second time if I was given a go on return. And please don't say that you did me a huge favor by shipping as gift, because first of all 80%-90% of US sellers do that without even talking about it and second you still didn't ship it right and I ended up paying extra $$$ for the package on arrival. Every email where I asked you questions you never replied with full answers so I had to email you back a bunch of times and after that when you replied that is if you did, the emails sounded like you were quite annoyed by my questions. WTF was that about?? I was your customer and I bought 2 pretty expensive pieces of equipment from you. I would still buy stuff from you now but now that I see how you conduct your business I wouldn't. I would trust an ebay seller way more than yourself. And yes I will keep talking about because I lost money and not $20 but over $500.

icebox thing, ok I saved $20. but really nothing compared to what was lost isn't it.

and "MOST PEOPLE", did not include me. See, even RooEng got refunded even though the header was installed and exhaust ran through it.

If you finally do something about it and help me exchange or refund this header I will be happy and never talk about it again. Hell, I'll even pay you the $20 that you lost on my icebox sale. So how about it? Do you wanna make it right?

If you have issues I'd suggest taking it offline or in PM's not in threads that have nothing to do with that subject.
Thanks

Just wanted to give an update on resonance, i had the headers on for about a month on my tl, no problem, about a week ago starteg getting metal against metal resonance, put the car on the lift, looked under and the rubber that the hanger on the b-pipe attaches to right near the cat was shot. So fabbed up a new one using some rubber hose and bam, no more resonance. So in case some people have been getting some resonance with the xs headers, just wanted to give a heads up to check the hanger.

fsttyms1 was doing some "testing" of his 6spd 2000 TL conversion on some recent long trips....

Kris, what happened to your sigline... You used to have your mileage listed there (190K plus IIRC)...

Anybody got specs on the Bosal's? I just got 98 2.3CL-P. After dropping in the CAI ad cleaning outthe engine bay, filthy previous owner, started gunning her on teh highway for a few weeks and I started hearing a loud noise, like my downpipe was broken, but no exhaust leaks can be seen from the bottom. This happened to my dad's old Camry and we changed the down spider web pipe which was broken. Anyhow, thinking of changng the manifold to an Bosal header, which they say is legal, to let her exhale better now that she's breathing better. Thanks all. God speed.
