My newest mod is in the mail

Found a TL TypeS throttle body online. $125+ shipping. After reading Bigman's thread about putting his on his 99TLP, I think this is gonna be a worthwhile mod. Gotta find a new CAI since mine is 2.75" and the new TB is 3".

This pic is actually the www.kingmotorsports.com bored TB, but you get the idea.

Congrats.

I wonder how hard it'll be to swap out.

Looks very easy. I had to take mine apart when I painted my cylinder head covers. According to Bigman, he did his in an hour or so.

i took me an hour because i had the wrong tools, you will get it don much faster prolly. If you get the 3 inch intake, it might make a difference, but i felt great throttle response right away. Also reset the ecu and beat it up on the highway, let the car adjust to the extra air flow. Also, let me know what u think.

I just replaced my IAC valve. Took me 10 minutes to take the TB off & another 10 to put back on. Real easy.

Any intake (short ram or CAI). The TLP intake is 2.75" and the TypeS is 3"

Only guesses at this point. I heard people throw out numbers in the single digits, but who knows.

I'm gonna wait till I get a TypeS CAI and possibly the MDX intake manifold (assuming it fits) and maybe TypeS cams then get my VAFC dyno tuned with everything.

isn't the CL-s TB a two stage TB? I thought that this swap was much harder than that because of that?!? Plus what about the VSA that is on the Type-s? That is why there is a two stage intake manifold... Bigman how did you get around this?

The secondary intake stage on the Type-S is inside the engine, if I'm not mistaken. It's controlled by a secondary cable when the sensor reads an engine load of 38-4200RPM and opens the plenum in the engine..

Tell him Neil from the Acura board sent you.

Hopefully he can hook you up with one. Not sure if he had any left.

i think i'm just gonna go with the bolt ons for now...if i was that serious about performance i'd buy a 1984 carrera...anyway, fucking with the engine is just that, i did too much of it with my mx6 ls and it didn't pay back too well. but i am getting nos. hehe.

two stage tb? there is no such thing at least to my knowledge. and the vsa has nothing to do with the intake manifold. one is for breathing, one is for yaw control.

the benefit of this would be similar to the benefit of getting a bored TB for a type s. however, the gains as we have seen are not substantial out of a better tb on a type s. as for the vsa, the CLP has a TCS system which has some of the same sensors as the vsa. one of them being the sensor that goes on the tb. bigman should know more about this, but it should be the same sensor and this project should be just like putting in headers or intake, no special modifications are needed.

is your engine lay out the same or do you have to have a custom intake made?

Couldn't agree with you more. HOWEVER, the TLP/CLP has a significantly smaller TB, 2.75" vs 3", so it should have some performance benefit.

Don't you have a 2.75" diameter Traction control in front of the trottle blade?
