My New England Dragway times this morning....
Got there at 8:30am this morning on opening day of the season and the temperature was 41 degrees. Got car inspected and was ready for my first official run ever in this car. I was in the sixth pair with a Red Z28 Camero for the first run.
Side note:
The only runs I've ever done are hole shots out of the toll booths. From day one of purchasing this car I've always felt it was fast.... (of course I was moving up from a Hyundai Elantra) but that is besides the point.
All runs were made in D4 except for run #6.
There were only about 20 of us cars doing runs at 9 am thus you'll see on my slips I got four runs in a 23 minute span.
Most of the big boys were tuning their cars at their trailers pulled by RV's.
I was the only CL-S.
I was supposed to meet Nashua there at 10 am but did not see him when I left at 10:30 am.
Run #1: got smoked bad by the Z28, about 10 car lengths. I squeaked the tires in first gear a little but 2nd gear they squealled for almost 2 seconds... strange?
Run #2: lined up against a bright yellow funny car with all the advertising and numbers on it...
He stalled on the start.
Tires really squealed in 2nd gear again bad.
Run #3: I lined up against a 5.0 Mustang and I was in the right lane for the first time. The Mustang looked a little in the lane so that looked all beat up but sounded real mean...
He smoked me but I ran a 14.740 and could not believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Run #4: was against a Honda Civic hatchback where the guy did burnouts on the water strip. I was told to go around the strip which I did. This guy stalled and I saw him pushing his car back to the pits on my way to run #5. I ran another 14, a 14.997.
*** On picking up my time slip after run #4 the guy said my R/T's were improving. I asked him what that was.
Oh... Reaction time from the green light.
Run #5: New Plan - I would give it the gas on the third yellow light instead of waiting for the green. Lined up against a Pontiac Firebird and it said "Firehawk" on the left front panel of the car. I hung with this car about 1/3 of the way down the strip and then he pulled away like I was standing still. This run gave me my best R/T of 1.034
Run #6: Lined up against a Chevy Z71 pickup 1500.
He stayed with me for about 2 seconds and then was history. Hit the gas on the third yellow again and got an R/T of .761 a personal best for the day.
Run #7: (last run) against a young Asian woman in a Honda Civic. Goood bye....
Question:
On a couple of runs I decided to place my car over to the right a little so my tires would not be in the slicked path made by the previous cars. I'm not sure if this helped or not?
Why did Run #5 have my best R/T but not my best time with an automatic tranny?
Had a blast!!!

Assuming you were using a "Sportsman" tree.. a perfect reaction time is .500. The closer you get to .500 without going under, the better. Thus, a .761 R/T is better than a 1.034.
Also, R/T does not not factor into yout 1/4 mile time. You could sit at the tree for an hour after the light turns green and still run a 14.50. The timer for your ET doesn't begin until you leave the staging lights.

I'm in seventh heaven knowing I ran in the 14's with just a CAI.
Next time I return it will be to run in the 12's and take out those cameros and firebirds with my Roush. Now to come up with $43k...

This was my first time at the track. I did not
know to go around the water they spray for the burnouts and was told by a guy so I did. I did not even know the first two lights on the tree were for lining up your front tires until someone told me.
What a rush going down that track.... The first 7 seconds seem fast and then the car sort doesn't seem to be pulling anymore. As I go to slow down my gauge said about 105 mph...
I think the 41 degree temps and CAI liking cold weather might of helped.
It was sort of you do the run, drive back, and do another run right away hoping to line up with someone that also might be in the upper 14's.
I saw an Acura RSX Type S hold its own against a Maxima right in front of my run.
Thanks!
I probably won't run again with 46,000 miles on car and original tires starting to go...

Ahoo,
I am sorry.. I could not be there at 10:00 AM... I was at the drag strip at 1:00 PM.
I met a guy who met you. He was running a black camaro! He said he met you and gave you some hints... He added that you were happy guy in a red CL-S... running for the first time.
Great times....
I managed my best times ever... myself and wife were very excited with the results...
I will post a another thread with complete time slips and remarks.
