My friend needs some advice

He's about to put up $100 on a race. hes got a 1200 mile 03.5 G35 sedan with sport suspension, and he wants to race his friends 02 Lexus SC430. Both of these cars are stock. He wants to know at what type of race (from what speed and gear) would be the best race for him to win. He thinks 60-80 mph race would be the best for his car.

If they can afford cars like that then 100 bucks shouldn't be nothing to them. I put my money on the sc430 though. Pretty sure the g35 will have a good start over the lexus b/c infiniti (nissan) puts so much torque and is known for low end.

Why do you guys put your money on the SC430? That Tl-S on this forum ran a 14.7 and beat the SC430. You guys underate the G35 Auto Sedan. It'll beat any stock Cl-S.

FYI, that auto sedan will not beat any stock CLS...its a toss up. It's who is willing to push their car harder and gets off the line quicker...and to what length are you racing to.....

You guys actually think that a auto stock Cl-S can and will beat a auto stock g35 Sedan. Come on, you gotta be crazy. 260 hp 260 torque and a lighter car, but you know the stock Cl-S will win? Thats crazy.

Ok one other thing, I didnt ask who you would put your money on, I just wanted some opinions on this one and simple question. It has been shown on this site that a Tl-S beat a Sc430. Now with that in mind, it is possible for the G35 to win. So the only question asked is at any speed to any speed, which would be the best type of race for the G35 to win.

No not crazy. The CL-S auto is faster than the G35 Auto, now the 6sp is a different story.
On the G35 vs. SC430 race, I put my money on the SC430 especially on the highway. The G35s only chance is from a start.

whoa whoa whoa. Im a little confused right now. I have an auto 03 Cl-S stock. Your telling me I can beat a 03.5 G35? I know magazine arent everything but they have 0-60 6.2 1/4 mile 14.6 stock for the G35 sedan and a 0-60 6.57 1/4 14.9 for a Cl-S. So can I really beat my friend. He says he will rape me. What would be the best type of race for me vs him?

The tests were done at different times. So, there were a lot of variances. The G35 does have a better take off...but it has peaky torque...v. the flat torque of the CL. If you learn to launch your CL, hopefully, he'll be the one spinning his tires....btw, the testers failed to turn off the VSA during testing.

I have yet to see a G35 pull a 14.6 stock (then again I dont go and troll on their board either).
A lot of members have run 14.7 stock in cooler conditions...so, its a toss up.

BOttom Line.. like I said earlier.. the g35 has a better start off since nissan puts so much torque into their cars... but in the end the sc430 will come on top. Also I believe the g35 will beat a CL-S considering 20hp makes a big difference.

To launch correctly on the CL, you have to let a little air out...bring it down to at least 30psi if your on the street. Turn off VSA...and try a 1800 rpm launch...you have to see what works for you.

FYI, Lilman he isn't talking about the G35 coupe. So, there is only a difference of maybe 100lbs. and about 10lbs. of torque.

renegade u gotta remember that tl-s that beat a sc430 had light wheels, ice box, and toyos to get him that 2.1 60', if they went from a 50 roll the tl-s would be toast, cause the sc430 did trap considerably higher
