My Dream Car
My Dream Car
I'm new on here. I just bought a CL Type S which is in very good condition. Red, spoiler, extended warranty, auto trans, 31,000 miles. Got it for about 22K. Hope I didn't pay too much. Wish I would have seen this forum before buying because of the auto trans. concerns. The car will only be used for pleasure. Does every automatic trams. have problems? Been wanting this care for the past 3 years. What problems will I encounter in the future? Plan on showing it off this weekend for the first time in Nothern California.
I have ragged on mine probably 3 times since ownership. I bought it new in the last months of 2002, its got just over 90,ooo miles on it. My trans. went out at 77,ooo miles. I dont think theres much you can do about it. I havent had any probs since. Of course, when mine went ou, the dealership rented me a car, and replaced the trans. in 3 days for free.
Welcome - sounds like a great car with low mileage. No, not every automatic has problems, but it is an issue recognized by Acura. Other than that, CL's are very reliable.
My advice? Just enjoy your new car and learn more about the available mods (Intake, headers, better tires, etc). Take care

As far as prices most automatic CLs sell for less private party anyway, esp if not with Navigation.
On ebay I see one sold for $14,700 with 44k miles, an 02 with Navi, 49k mi for $14,900, an 01 with 23k miles for $15k. So I think you paid a little high but just enjoy it.

Thanks for all the good feedback. The interior color is dark beige, the exteneded warranty is a 7 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper, the year is a 2003 and the car is certified by the Acrua dealer. From from the looks of some of those prices you quoted, yes I paid too much but you have to consider that this is the San Francisco Bay Area. We pay a little more for everything here. The Kelly Blue Book showed the car's value at about 24,998. So I thought I was getting a good deal at the time.
