Is my dealer lying to me?

I have a 2001 CL-S that has roughly 47k miles on it. I have noticed the rotors feel warped (the typical steering wheel shake during highway braking). I called them and mentioned the TSB for this, and they told me it is only covered under warranty up to 30,000 miles. Is this true?

Maybe I am just a little confused about what a TSB really is. Is it like a recall?

Thank you.

Is all up to the dealer. I would say if it is just showing up now most dealers wont touch it as those are pretty well used brakes. Mine showed up at a little over 20 and again at 35 and both were replaced by the dealer. I would call a couple and check but with 47k miles you may be out of luck.

TSB is not a recall. It stands for Technical Service Bulletin, and it's only a bunch of instructions on how to resolve common issues with a specific model. It may or may not be covered under warranty.

My suggestion is to find a different dealership. A lot of them are familiar with this problem and will do it on good will. After all, if Acura hadn't put on such crappy rotors, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Good luck.

Bridgewater, NJ.

Thanks for the help guys, I will call around.

I am just looking for a quick fix (resurface) as my wife and I am planning on selling the CL-S

Has anyone done the brakes themselves? I have built race cars in the past and have done a decent amount of brakes. Just wondering if the CL's brakes are much different than other disc brakes.

I had mine serviced under warranty by a dealer in NJ with 38k miles on it. They resurfaced the rotors and replaced the front brake pads. I would call another dealer.

Call Park Avenue Acura (www.parkaveacura.com) and schedule an appointment there. If you're near them they are one of the best dealers in the Northeast... and possibly the east coast... so check them out. In the end it's up to the individual dealer, but PAA is known for their service on this board... so check them out....

I second the notion to call Park Avenue Acura, they are my dealer of choice (not the dealer I bought the car from either). They've done most all my mods!

There are a couple of other dealers that are closer to me. I will call them first. If I don't have any luck, I will contact Park Ave.

Thank you everyone for your help.

something tells me your going to end up at park ave .. and when you experience their service you will drive the extra distance to get it serviced there .. the dealership I bought my car from is 30mins away. I drive 2hrs to park ave whenever I need anything

but go ahead, call the other dealers .... see what they say.
