My engine was blown when I went through a puddle and stalled out. Don't crank your engine till the dealer looks at it.

Just soe you know, it cost around $8000 to fix... But my insurance took care of everything but the deductable.

You'd know if your engine is fucked. My sister blew the motor on her Celica from driving through a puddle......it was fucked as soon as she got half way through puddle!!!!!

I don't get it, does your car still run? Did it shut down in the puddle? Did you keep driving afterwards? If your engine is blown you would stayed in that puddle.

i really appreciate some of the comments ...right now it's the not knowing...thats the hardest. I did talk to my service manager today,he said if the insurance company approved my supplying the block he would have no problem with the 3.5...i also talked with doug....my service rep also mentioned...between him and I that there was some talk of totalling it...then it would be 6mt....i just hope this doesnt cost me a fortune...as i dont have it...i may end up in a yugo with optional passenger side door handle

the latest...both the adjuster and the dealer have no problem with me supplying the 3.5 converted short block...the adjuster said if he can find a used one with less miles and it's less than i would have to pay the difference....i almost wish the car would e totaled...im afraid it will smell of mildew...

well i wasnt totally clear i think...at this point nothing is final....i dont think they know for sure the engine is blown....i think the service rep assumes it is...and he did hint that there was some talk of totalling the car...im not sure what to think...and i wonder if i should get the lease company involved...it could be there car in 18 months...and ill bet they have lawyers that'll make sure the most financially best intrest of the future of the car is concidered...at the same time i dont want any doors closed either...

I work in claims. Trust me. You WANT this car totalled. I have never seen a car with water damage that was not totalled. I just had a 2000 boxter totalled the other day. The estimator said water got into the intake and electrical systems. the car was leased. we paid the value of the car to the leasing co.( approx $40,000). it would have been cheaper to just replace the engine, but when a car has water damage it will never be the same.

DO THAT.

Plus, mention all the wiring might be affected that got soaked, etc. There's a lot more than just a blown engine at stake here.
