my car got hit while parked

came out from a restarant and i had my car paralell paked and i see a car behind mine parked half a centimeter away from my bumper, i knew they had to hit my car to get in, so i pull up and i see a few small little scrathed left by the early 90's grand am , my initial reaction was to break all the windows of that car, so i opened my trunk and reached for my jack, i thought twice, since there is a police station about 700 feet behind me and other people around i decided just to jot down the lis. plate #, i dunno if its even worth reporting because i dont want the insurance to go up

i'll wash the car tommorw and see how bad it really is, this fuckin blows man

I dont know how it is in MI, but cops here would laugh it off. People get nicked left and right in Chicago. That's another reason I picked up my civic, perfect for parallel parking and inevitable scratches.

they same way in nyc. i am not from there but just visiting, you just stay in the car if you are tapped from behind or just ignore it when you see it, until you get home

If someone hits me I would call the police and get a report.

Someone hit my car on the front fender and bumper, didn't do a thing about it. No one was nice enough to tell me, probably the same person who hit my truck as it was in the same spot on both cars.

Suggestion: Throw a disposible camera in your glove box. Next time it happens, take a picture of the car just as it sits (inches away from the bumper). Now you can take them to small claims court for the cost of repairs. It's actually a good idea for all kinds of situations.

That being said ... what a bunch of Assholes. People wonder why I park at the far end of the parking lot (usually next to all the newer cars). It's the only way to "try" to keep the dings down.

Sorry to hear about this darrin. :thumbsdn:

Well you basically know who did it so at least you can go the legal route and try and get them to pay.

I would have called the cops right on the spot. It's a brand new car.

By driving away from the scene, I doubt much will happen, even with a license plate number.

That Sux darrin. I know it took everything holy and law abiding, to no go apeshit on their car . Are they really scratches, or just scuffs ?
