edit, with the hi-flo cat, y, and x pipe, no resonators are needed, it would def be loud, but i think it would sound great. but find me an X and Y pipe, with 1.25-1.5 inlets/outlets
just so you know that set up has some kinda valve that allows more flow at hi rpms and less flow at low...i think it could be easily adapted

A hydroformed 2-into-1 collector pipe carries exhaust gases to a single 350 cell-per-inch secondary converter under the passenger cabin. To balance the engine's need for proper exhaust backpressure at low speed and free flow at high speed, the exhaust system incorporates a variable flow rate feature. An exhaust pressure-operated valve in the system has two operating modes. The low speed mode has a flow rate of 130 liters per second; when the engine reaches about 4000 rpm, the exhaust pressure rises enough to open the valve, which increases the flow to 150 liters per second.

BTW talked to acura247 and part number 12 which is the main character in doing this project is only 150$ i think it's where the exhaust pressure valve would be the only other place might be in the A pipe before the cat? i just dont see it being before the CAT? thoughts?

part 12 in above picture looks like a plain resonator to me?? but who knows what's inside. sounds mechanically operated via pressure and no eletrical wiring is needed... i like this. this is intriguing, sounds like the perfect solution to maintaining low end backpressure and then opening up in high RPMs. i need to look into this further. i wish acura parts departments were actually knowledgeable about what the parts DO. i will be looking into this in the following week and report back results.

btw i still haven't gotten a chance to figure out the 6 speed throttle body, i'm contemplating just searching a junkyard.

part 12 isnt listed on acuraparts or acuracarland.. what's the deal?? honestly, i would adapt it to our single exhaust system, i still think it's too tight under there.

OK OK, you got my brain on overdrive.

first some food for though:
http://www.racerwheel.com/a71-155a019.html
http://www.importscene.com.au/prod466.htm
http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10101

this is starting to remind me of the IMRC valve. a secondary chamber opens releasing pressure necessary at high RPMs. this could show an increase torque in low RPMs. my idea, is part #12, if it is indeed 150, would be a steal. purchase that, i can mount it to the cat, and then run dual pipes from that piece. BUT WILL IT FIT?

i know it's not listed thats why i called acuraparts247 snd they said they'd have to order it and that it would 150 shipped ...we need to look under an RL and we need to determin if this has the pressure valve in it?

that has to be it, it's the only thing that makes sense.

want to go crazy? can you see the intake manifold bolting up?

chances are anyone parting out a 2006 RL will sell the motor complete so getting an intake through a junkyard will be tough

I had the same problem trying to source the TypeS IM for my 99TL. Finally found one from a board member. All the salvage yards I called said, sure we got one. Oh by the way, it's gonna come with an engine attached to it.

minor update: crank being polished, intake manifolds port and polished, cylinder walls being honed, everything looking good. motor should actually be done by next week, but the tranny took a crap this week. motor/tranny get dropped thursday. i expect it to be done roughly 2 weeks from then.

well, i dont know how site policy works, but i'd like to give a lot of credit so far to RPM NYC (www.rpmnyc.com) for taking on this project. A small plug about them, they had a car at the New York International Auto Show that broke some kind of land speed record. They really know honda motors and I'm fully confident in them to complete this project. On a side note, they installed a regular j32 typeS into a 1st Gen CL w/ Standalone ECU Management. They said it sucked and it was a pain in the ass, but my motor should be very easy as long as the internals go good. If anyone wants some more info on them, just PM me and I'll tell you who to talk to.

I see you are in Florida now?!

torque converter was being drained and sent out last week, i paid for overnight.

my motor was torn down last week, cylinders honed, block/head cleaned up.

things to be done in addition: jet-hot ct headers, hi-flow cat, full 2.5" exhaust w/ borlas. i need to ask them to weld my battery tray in place (custom mount). the upgraded motor mounts will go in as well.

i have so many parts at the shop, i will probably have a major sale when i get the car back, keep your eyes open.
