My 2001 5AT Missed a Shift

Fellas,

As I was driving on the Palisades Parkway yesterday, from West Point back to NYC, I was accelerating fairly hard and the RPMS kept going up and up, until about 7000 when it finally shifted.. It definitely missed a shift.. I wasn't WOT so it should have (and never normally does) go that high...

Should I worry?

That doesn't sound good... I'd take it in ASAP instead of waiting. No senes in running the risk of getting stranded or worse.... HURT!!!

Yeah that's what I was afraid of ... Last time I was at my dealer I was talked to my service guy about preventing a tranny problem before it happens because im afraid of getting stuck or god forbid something worse when i can already see the problem developing.. i just got off the phone.. im bringing it in wednesday and getting a loaner while they check it out..

thanks for the replies.. wanted to check with the experts first :P

Yeah...but didn't you get the gold plated tranny, Mr. Moneybags? Us welfare recipients got the regular one that's made out of pewter. Easy tuff....I'm sure the only guys chiming in are the ones it happened to. Mine missed a shift, then reverse sounded like Armageddon, then it started arbitrarily going into neutral and dropping back into gear...not a fun experience. I just don't want the experience to be an alien one for Elliot (god, I crack myself up!!!)

but thats how it all starts... Its happened to several folks, and evidence indicates that its on its way down. why put off the inevitable? Maybe you had the one transmission that didn't wanna give up. But a lot of us have had the one that coughed once & died.

and lets face it .. Honda submitted a report to the NHTSA showing that their quality control is crap at best .. any and all are subject to total distruction .. sounds to me like his new tranny will be on its way shortly
