My 01 CL-S Won't Start

I need some opinions.
Last night I went to start my car and the only thing it will do is crank, so I am sure it is not a battery issue. I plan on changing the plugs see if that does anything for me. I have heard it could be a crank sensor issue, timing belt, and or fuel pump. Anyone ever have similar problem?

most likely teh battery. bring it to any autozone to have them test it and they will tell u what happened. start with the most common/cheapest things first.

He said that it cranks, so it would not be the battery.

Possibly the fuel pump relay. Common on the CLS. Search the forum for more info on it. Sorry don't have the time to look it up for ya. But there is a bunch of info on it. Ussually the fuel pump relay goes out in high heat summers. It is right under the sterring wheel. you can find diagrams on here.

First of all the battery is not the cheapest.

Second ITS NOT THE BATTERY, IF THE CAR IS CRANKING IT IS NOT THE FRIGGING BATTERY! You guys are about as sharp as a marble! WOW!

Check for spark, then check for fuel! If you have no fuel look up that pump relay. it cost me like $37.00 and took about 15 min to change.

But go ahead like everyone else thinks and replace a $80.00 battery!

You must have spark, fuel, and compression, and it all has to happen at the right time (timing belt or chain).

WHY? If the engine is cranking why go through the trouble of taking the battery out of the car and driving to the parts store? MAKES NO SENCE AT ALL!!!! REALLY?

While he is at it why not replace his radiator, and right rear blinker..... Just in case!!!!

Why are you getting all worked up..? It's not even your question, chill dude.

And FYI, Autozone checks batteries and alternators for free (at least in my home town).

Dude, seriously, RELAX.

And Yes, it could be the battery. I have seen it though its unlikely if its cranking at a good speed.

Things to check, while cranking do you see the Green Key in the inst cluster lighting or flashing while cranking?

You're pretty sharp yourself, you can spell and diagnose a car. (If you don't understand why the first word is bold and in italics, that's how you spell it not your. I'm not an English major, but I'm pretty sure that's the right one.)

I had a freind of mine come over, who is a bmw and prosche mechanic, and take a look at the car. He plugged in his scanner and ran it for error codes and nothing came up, mean while he tried to start the car and it started. I am at a loss. Anyway the car is going into service at a honda and acura shop so I will have them double check it. Thanks for all of the responses.

When my fuel pump relay went out it was just like that. Sometime it would start and sometime it would not. Don't let the dealership charge you to much. If they say it is the fuel pump relay i would not pay mor than $40.00 for a new one, and don't let then charge you alot to install it. It only takes 15 min.

Are you sure it was not the battery? I know you said it started but you never know it could still be the battery!

Yep, you got me there, I did not pay much attention to grammer. But I know enough to know when a car battery is or is not the problem, which is more than I can say for some of the people here.

He was asking for help and you guys wanna send him on a wild goose chase!

Im not reading the rest of the jibberish here. Too much BS.

When you turn the key to the on position (not cranking it) do you hear the fuel pump prime?

Congrats.. Whats your first language?

I don't know why so many people get on other for poor spelling in a car forum?
Its not a proper English forum... Some of us can not spell.. English is also my 2nd language and I can't spell for Sh()t.. DO I care...NO.. I was NEVER able to spell well, my Grammer sucks also.. Some people have better skills then others at certain things, does not mean you have to remind them that they can't spell or there grammer is poor... Some people on here are way to wound up, they need to take a chill pill...

CH46 i just read ur signature and laughed my face off!!!!!!

I bet some people are like.... REALLYYYYY?? lol

As for the PMSing going down in this thread, I would have to agree, this is a car forum, not grammer class. As long as we can get the point, that's all that matters.

OP any luck with ur CL yet?

I'm just getting on him for being an a$$hole. Besides, it gets annoying when people act like the suggestions from others are incorrect simply because one thinks so. Plus, he'd keep going on about it, it was something to keep me entertained during my two classes last night.

Thanks?

OP - Do you hear the pump prime (should be a low whine noise coming from the fuel tank) when you turn the ignition on?

Teeeheee. Sorry I'm bored in class and I wanted to correctly use 'your' in a sentence. From the lack of response from the OP, I don't think he's looking at his thread.

I had to order one from Advanced Auto, it took 3 days to get it. But I only had to pay $32.00 I think. Sorry I don't have the part #. Here is the thing, they have two diff parts. One is the oem style, then they made a replacement to correct teh problem. At least tahts what Acura told me. Advanced Auto showed both parts. 1 was $55+ and the other was $30 something. I got the cheaper one as I knew I was not planning on keeping the CLS for much longer. However the cheaper one worked great. No problems at all.

So are you sure it was not the battery? J/K !

Google "Honda Main Relay Repair"

They are easy to repair if you have a solder iron.
