Moving on from my beloved '03 Acura CL-S, what to get next?

Spent the past 10 years loving and driving this beautiful car, it played an essential role in my late teens/20s and spent a lot of money already to keep it alive.

While I want to drive it till the wheels fall off, recent issues likely require a few thousand in repairs, new engine, etc.. and I've been thinking I'm going to want a new car anyways, so would love advice about what to get next.

Going to need 4 doors instead of the CL's two. Need more cargo space for hauling camera and lighting gear. Would love to have the nimble-ness and sporty feel of my CL in whatever this new car is, even though I may have to sacrifice in this cargo-friendly dream. I don't want to downgrade in quality or performance, looking for equal or slightly better. Hoping to not have worse gas mileage than my CL, would be cool to have an improvement.

Currently thinking about a used 2012 MDX, but thinking it may be overkill since I'm just a single guy. I also think the extra weight of the MDX will take away from the go-kart feel that I have with the CL. I may be looking for the impossible, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Trying to keep the price (new or used) under $35K, prefer a nice car, though used, around $30K or a little less! Thanks!

^ these guys have the right idea .

My dad paid under 30k for his is350 2011 a couple months ago with less than 30,000 miles , and that car is just amazing . 3.5 liter engine 280whp (ish) automatic with black and white leather interior , argueably the best navigation system , and runs for a quarter million miles .

Everyone here is saying Acura, but unless I'm missing something, maybe you should go for a Focus ST. Not entirely sure it's going to be more spacious but it is 4 doors and more practical. It also handles better, and comes is manual.

Thanks for the advice guys, ya looking at TLs, MDX, RDX, Lexus sedans, maybe some higher end hatchbacks. I definitely need some large cargo space so maybe hatchback or large trunk + fold down seats. Don't want a 4banger, definitely want to stick with a v6.

I do a lot of road trips, so a car that is comfortable and not too noisy for trips.

ford focus st.. hatch backs have huge cargo capabilities considering the size of vehicle. its got the power too, but only comes in manual and has a 40ft turning radius... which is horrible considering the wheelbase lol. plus the exhaust is in the middle so if u ever wanted to put a hitch on for a bike rack or whatever (as i have), u are kinda screwed.

the g37 would definitely fit ur criteria, though the trunk is no bigger than the cl. I would think the seats fold down tho in that car, unlike our cl.. that's the one thing i hate about the cl.

if i could i would buy the g37xs.. thats the luxury car i would like lol..

another vote for the Focus ST.

maybe you guise should spend sometime on the other parts of this forum. people move on from acura all the time.
car talk is a sub-forum of Acurazine that focuses on members that left acura for other brands.
there's a few members here with Focus ST's.
it is able to hold all your camera gear and is more nimble than the CL-s.

very easy to make power with its turbo 4.

Going to need 4 doors
cough.................

If you don't mind the gas mileage they can be had for $25-30K used.
On the ST...it's not too bad of a car but it is still FWD & has ungodly tq steer.. Worse then the 3rd gen TLS 6 speed.

But can you operate them for half? That'd be the catch if I were in the market. I love the driving experiences many of those makes generally engineer into their cars, but would be wary of maintenance or repairs that can easily exceed what'd you pay to have similar work done on something less prestigious.

Not crapping on the idea. Just throwing in a consideration.
