Morons with badges -- a story...

A man from “West Virginia” moved to Arizona for his job. A cop pulled him over to give him a ticket. He asked her what his infraction had been. She said that he was driving with illegal license plates. He questioned her as to what was illegal about them. She said that there was no such state as West Virginia. He tried to insist that there was, there really was… She clamped handcuffs on him (probably for arguing with a moron on duty) and carted him off to jail. After what was a short period of incarceration, it was determined that there was such a state as “West Virginia” and he was let go.

This story came from Jay Leno’s Monday might “Headlines and Humorous News” segment.

Moral: Don’t argue with a “moron with a badge”

It's because it is part of the "United States of Mars" and here is the license plate for space cadets and other explorers:

Apparently, the only requirement is that they can name all forty-nine states.

Wow... I wish there were just one time in my life where I would come across something like that... I'd break out my map so fast... whoosh...

Why do all the officers that pull ME over have absolutely no sense of humor, and masters' degrees in physics?

Man i'm from New York. I spent most my time driving in the city and on 95 and the Hutch. Those are smart cops. These guys out in AZ seem like absolute morons. And they are assholes when they pull you over because they don't have any intelligence it seems. I was going about 85 on the 101 and I come up to a Unmarked cop car so I stay right alongside of him. I keep looking at him doing about 80 and then he gets on his radio, figuring I didn't see it. Right after that he gets off the exit probably thinking i'm going to take off once he gets off. I look up about 1/2 mile ahead where the enterance from that street is and there is a motorcycle cop sitting there. This dick figured he could get me, by doing that and he would fool me. So I slow to 55 which is 10 below SL. and a couple seconds later the dumb umarked car comes back from the onramp and I look at him again and pin it to about 90 and just brake and laugh at him. I figured I'd get in shit for doing that but I think he knew that he failed on trying to outsmart me. They don't know that, those things happen everyday in NY hahahah, they aren't too bright. Anthony

I can't believe Jay fell for that urban legend. I've heard that same story a decade ago....

"There's no such state as fill in your state here...." Depending on where you are from....

Think about it. A cops doesn't have to know ALL the states in the US. If he pulls you over, before arresting you, he will probably run your license plate and find that it is valid. If not, he will look at your [matching] driver's license and run that, only to find that it is valid, too.

So if you have no plates at all, do you get arrested or does you car just get towed....
