More TL install pics.....goodbadmas car...

Prashant supplied me with all the equipment and I did the install....It's a sherwood 5.1 dolby digital setup that I ran off the stock headunit, used the stock speakers and sub with the new amp, decoder, and digital cd player, playstation 2. I added pioneer ts-t22 tweeters in the door. I was AMAZED at how good the sound quality was with the stock speakers and sub running off this system.

Took the coin holder and power source out of the dash and built the decoder in. In the center console I built in the digital cd player and put ps2 under the passenger seat. 2 5.6" monitors, tweeters in doors and 5.1 amp in trunk which I am making a cover for soon.

Streeteffectz....thats a sweet set up. You got some talent man. A few nitpics, which I am SURE you can fix...
1. I am not big on exposed wiring, so i think the trunk would look better if you hid them.
2. Isnt there a nicer place for the PS2?
3. The carpeting (or at least thats what it looks like in the pic, correct me if im wrong) in the console isnt the prettiest things ive seen.

Other than those things...beautiful..
By the way, what kind of monitors are those, I have alpine, but want to get something with better picture quality...any ideas...pioneer, sony perhaps..thanks a lot.

Check my paragraph above....I'm making a custom cover for the amp so you don't see the wires I would NEVER, EVER leave something exposed like that, unless of course, the customer requests it.

Sure there are nicer places for the PS2, but that was by request...

I'm also making a plexi plate to go around the digital processor instead of the carpet (this was a space filler for the time being). Customer needed the car back for now.

As for the monitors, I THINK they were Mobile Authority, supplied by him. I recommend Accele, Icon, and Santeca for best picture quality, all of which I have used and have in my own personal cars. I do carry them all.

THANKS!

I dont have a camera...but i am stongly considering drivin over there to jersey and let you redo my whole entertainment system . How far are you from NYC...no more that hour and half i hope...even though id like it to be done by one of the ACURA-CL.com crew. I wanna get it all done soon, cause I promised eclipse23...the piss poor poobah to chill with him sometime late may early june.
So ill be over real soon. Also, one more question...i dunno if you do this, but will you give me a price break if I give you all my stock stuff...tvs are alpine, and decoder is a panasonic. Thanks man. Hope to be up there in Jersey real soon. When you opening the online store man...I told all my boyz to get all their stuff for you, so hurry up you slacker

On a side note, i dunno if you carry MBQUARTS and FOCALs, but heres my take on it. 2 of my friends both have the new BMW 530's. They both got a system done, except one has MBQUART and the other has FOCAL. Here is my take on it. (keep in mind i have MBQUART, and will be honest) I agree that the UTOPIAs sound a drop better than the Q's
BUT! The Q's are 499 a pair, and the Utopias are 920 a pair. I have to say they do not sound that much better. And my eclipse subs blow the lid off FOCALS, although if its quality you are after, focals are #1, their freq. response is like 20 to 1000 htz. Thats SICK!!! All in all, i think they are "the best speakers" at any price, but overall, i think MBQUART are the best, whats your take on this...what do you think are great from your experiences...particularly the new pioneer premier...those look great!...thanks a lot man..

Well thanks for the hook ups! Store is under contruction still!

Anyway, you had to go there, didn't you....the new pioneer prs components.... ABSOLUTELY love 'em. They are EXCELLENT components. I have installed a couple sets, one of which was in a TL and they sound phenominal.

Focal and MB quart I DO carry. $920 for a set??? That's cuz you didn't order from us, LOL, j/k. Anyway, I do prefer focal over mb quart because I think Focal has a fuller sound, not that MB is bad, just like Focal better, which I have installed in our 2000 328ci with alumapro 10" subs and it sounds AMAZING...running off phoenix gold zx475 ti and zx400ti for subs.

I actially dont know exactly...but FOCAL sent me their catalog and price list...and it said for the UTOPIAS, its 912 a set (the componets.) Hey, if they cost as much as the Q's Ill definetely get them. Alright man...thanks for your time, and Ill be over there real soon. Youll be there in person. Also, do you do custom sealed boxes...i want to redo mine...my shop here in NYC, i had a huge fight with them, cause someone i know, (not a friend) came in, and told them they want a box EXACTLY like mine. So now my system isnt nearly that impressive, and god forbid he shows up at a show im in...ill look like a dick. I hope you are cooler than that with your stuff, and dont let someone bite off another person. Thats the #1 way to kill a relationship with a client who brought you over 150 grand in customers.

I definitely do custom sealed enclosures, I have LOTS of ideas, and hope you do too! I'd be more than happy to take a look at your stuff and see what kind of craziness we can come up with!!!

The focals, are you referring to the 165w's?

Heres the price list I got...

136W - $916.00
165W - $1018.00
180W - $1145.00
165W3 - $1527.00
5WS - $191.00
Audiom 6W -$254.00
Audiom TLR-$756.00
27WX - $890.00
33WX - $1147.00
38WX - $1400.00

Now, thats straight from focal. I belive the 136W's and the 165W are directly in competition with MBQUART's Q line. And the Q's are about 500 a pair. Correct me if Im wrong on this. I hope your prices are better cause if you can sell me hte 165's for 500 a pair, ill turn my damn CLS into a speaker. Ill also give you my stock BOSE speakers for a stick of gum and a handshake. ...im playin...they aint that bad...Just curious...when I come down..im bringing 3 brand new M5's with me...if I tell you a week in advance..you think you can do all three cars within a week? (hope you dont work alone!!!)

Something like the 165W wouldn't be $500, but not TOO far off from it, more like $650. Anyway, I don't work alone, but I do 100% of the custom work myself. 3 cars in a week isn't a problem depending upon what I have to do.

Hope to be doing a nice video setup in an M5 soon

With all that weight, you also added half a second to your car.
Hope you really enjoy your toys when looking at the rear bumber of a 328 or A4...

I am getting a sub put in the rear and it's gonna look really nice because he is building the custom cabinet. The amp will be recessed into the floor and it's gonna look AWESOME!

Actually...with all my toys...and I have a shitload of DYNAMAT...my trunk lid is no joke ...about 70-80 pounds...all more in the doors...my car is virtually soundproof. With headers, CAI, and the rest of the underthehood work...my car is running stock.
0-60 is about 6.4 And I have no problem smoking 328's and can keep up with a 330 auto. Sticks pretty much beat me, but not by all that much. But where I live, I know most people with a BMW so I dont race them.

On a side note...if you all recall me talking about my friends 528i, a lot of you did not believe me about it...he will be in englishtown during the next GERMAN (not the japanese..thats may 24th) import show...that should be around early june. His car will also appear in Bimmer magazine along with his dyno...i am telling you...youve never seen a dyno like this. Last week he got it done at englishtown, Dynoed at 406 horses AT THE WHEELS, 0-60 in....3.8!!!!! He lit up the track...destroyed an M5...neck and neck with a 911 turbo...the best show theyve had in a while. Since he is sponsored...his sponsors will pay admission to all his friends. If anyone from NY/NJ/PA(if you dont mind the drive) in interested in coming, (i am not sure 100% of the date, ill let you know a week in advance)drop me an email and Ill get you on the list...i dont have unlimited room, but i can bring a lot of people. So, ill be hearing from you...
Too bad M3sins cant come...i wanted him to check this bad boy out...someone bring a digivideo cam that day. Oh...and did I mention...My CL will be showin there too.

Isn't this considered 'Off-Topic'? But I guess the moderators don't move their 'friends' over to the 'Off-Topic' section.

I don't mean to haggle you StreetEffectz, I think you got some great ideas and are very talented at showing those ideas, however just a little pissed off at the moderators for moving everything else over to the 'Off-Topic' and not this type of topic.

I find nothing wrong with the occasional Streeteffectz postings. He rarely comes here with posts and when he does theyre always a hit. I think this deserves to be here more than "I can blow snot out of both of my nostrils" posts.

Youve always got something to say dont ya?

First off... we dont move shit to Ramblings unless it is totally un car related and it is complete Rambling.

Second... this IS car related. The reason it isnt moved to Audo/Electronics is cause its something everyone would like to see... whereas the audio & electronics forum is more for people to post their important questions that only 1 or 2 people may know how to answer... that way those people dont miss thier shit cuz it got lost in Car Talk.

Anyway... go play on your own forum if you dont like it.

Quick question for you Ron...assuming I will redo my entire system...audio and video with you...will you consider sponsoring my car...Im sure you know what that means, if not, Ill explain. Im asking cause I had a huge fight with my shop, and I dont want to be sponsored by them anymore, so I am in search of a new one. So, if you are interested, let me know. Thanks.

I dunno about you guys, but I dont consider my CLS as a racer. Sure...i like the fact that i can burn a block in 2 seconds...but i think its cooler cruisin up to a block filled with girls and playing some sweet track on my killer stereo. Maybee i think like this cause all my friends have cars that go 0-60 in 4 seconds or less...but I bought the CL cause i think it looks great, great luxury cruiser, and overall a great car. If you bought this car for racing, then i think you bought the wrong car.
I hope you are not one of those morons who take out the floor mats and carpeting to save weight....i admit...i am not the biggest know it all of engines...but i know..our car physically cant go 0-60 in under 5 maybee 5.5 due to the fact of the FWD. There is no point of goin nuts with the weight to gain a second or a half. If you put 800 horses on our car...it would just spin...no movement. And bro...you should see my car at night, when you are on the road behind me...my white turnsignals and 5 tv screens sure do get a lot of honks and waves. Bottom line is...only a car enthusiast can appreciate a performance tuned car...but anyone car appreciate a gadget done car. When i told people i got headers...they called me one of them civic losers...meaning ricers...so like i said, engine work wont impress anyone.
