They invented synthetic oil for auto's, the others copied. www.amsoil.com
It seems that whatever AMSOIL is talking about re-formulated Mobil One is dated back to Feb 2000.
So, have we been using reformulated Mobil One for the last 2 years?
Also Amsoil is a $6+ per Qrt compared to $3.573 per Qrt for Mobil One...
And what is this story for the Mobil One is now SAE LJ class oil rather than SJ oil ....?

So what oil can we use boys? That is bought in the store? I am considering switching to Valvoline Synthetic. It matches mobil 1 except that one point he mentioned above which really isn't that big of a deal to worry about. It is better than all the other oils anyways. Amsoil and redline are just not common here, so I rather get something that is. What you guys think?
BS... Or ... please get me some hard data!

Hmmm... I was about ready to toss all my Mobil-1..
Then, I decided to do some looking around.
The date, Feb 2002 sounds familiar (in the Amsol) FAQ, etc -- yes/no?
So, I go looking around and the Tri-Synthetic is "supposed" to be the real deal.
So, time to look deeper -- and I find this (CHECK THE PAGE -- OK):
http://www2.exxonmobil.com/Corporate..._nr_020200.asp
"FAIRFAX, Virginia - February 2, 2000 - Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today the introduction of Mobil Drive Clean Blend, a new synthetic blend motor oil that combines Mobil 1 synthetic technology with high-quality conventional oil to deliver engine protection above and beyond the capability of conventional motor oil. This product is targeted to the conventional motor oil user who is interested in the extra engine cleaning benefits Mobil Drive Clean Blend provides. The advanced engine-cleaning formula contains active cleaning agents that work constantly to rid engines of harmful dirt and contaminants, promoting longer engine life.
Mobil Drive Clean Blend joins the family of Mobil lubricants, which includes Mobil Drive Clean Oil, a premium conventional oil that also contains special cleaning additives. It also joins the company's flagship Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Oil, which offers unsurpassed engine protection and performance through better wear protection, high-temperature stability, cold-temperature performance as low as -62 degrees F and outstanding protection from deposits and sludge

I wonder sometimes if these people are getting paid by Amsol to scare people. I know they make a great product and I like the Redline stuff too, but, in my opinion, half-truths are just as bad as lies.
I'll stick with the Mobil-1 (and it’s not the “drive clean blend”). I already heard this before, and called Mobil-1 and asked to speak to the engineers. I asked if there was ANY conventional oil in their Tri-Synthetic 5-30 and they said, “NO!”
If you guys think they have "doped" the "pure synthetic" with conventional oil, let me know -- and I don't use the "blend" stuff either... (Somewhere, where I can get facts…)
Here is the "Amsol" link -- IMO, they are talking about the Mobil 1 "blend" (link above) and NOT the regular Mobil 1...
The "Clean Blend" is not the same as the "stuff" I've been buying...
Please tell me I'm wrong about this...
"The Mobil 1 synthetic, detergent-dispersant oils are designed for passenger car and light truck gasoline or diesel engines requiring API Service SL, SJ or CF. Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Formula 0W-30, Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Formula 5W-30, and Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Formula 10W-30 also meet ILSAC GF-3 (Starburst Certification Mark). ...

It seems that this forum is either pathetic optimists or chronic marketing puppets.
