Umm....Mitsubishi North America has annouced that the Evo VII will make its debut in the USA in January of 2003. Average lifespan for a Evolution is 1-2 years. However, with rumors saying that the Evo VIII will be using Mitsu's new GDI engine there may be a longer delay between the VII and VIII. Makes sense since Mitsu is bothering to export the VII around the world.

This is one of the cars I might change to if I have the money, if the 7th generation Accord looks bad.

It sure looked like it from outside, but it wasn't! I took a close look at it at the auto show, and you know what, it's got a back seat and no roll cage! Those bastards tinted the window black trying to fool us all!!

Unfortunately, Mitsu will detune the engine for the Evo VII if they bring it. What's the new GDI engine? Features etc.,

Are you sure??? I looked at the WRC car and I saw a rollcage. I don't recall looking for the backseat though. You could tell the tires were worn (there was still dirt on the inside of the rim) and the 8pot calipers had the thermometer sticker thing that they use to tell brake temperature. I'm pretty sure that was a genuine WRC car...

Of course the engine will be detuned, hopefully it will just be the ECU. As for the Evo VIII using a GDI engine: Mitsubishi has done quite a bit of working desinging GDI engines and currently has one in production (1.8L I think) in Japan. I think Mitsubishi was the one that first grooved the top of the piston to make the gas swirl in the cylinder. The 4G63 is getting old (doesn't even have some sort of VVT) and is probably in need of a replacement. So a GDI might be seen on the Evo VIII. But hey, thats probably at least a year away so who knows.

Here's a good page for info:

I am 100% sure it's got a freaking backseat!! With seat belts and all!! I stuck my face to the tinted window to take a peep and found that out.

That's the reason why they tinted its window black. WRC cars don't have tint like that!!

They had to put the real tires and brakes on it because you can see them from outside. Bastards...

The Subaru WRX STi displayed looked genuine though...
